What travellers are saying
- Juliet RBudapest, Hungary366 contributionsOne of the best winter trips I have ever taken. As a single female traveler always traveling solo, I was apprehensive about a snowy winter hike up a canyon. My tour guide was simply amazing. Mars was everything I could have asked for to feel secure & adventurous. First though, I have to say, my flight to Bishkek was diverted to Almaty due to snow & ice weather so I thought I would forfeit my tour. After speaking with Mars, he assured me that as I was the only participant for the day, he would await my flight. I arrived in Bishkek, 3 hours later and he was waiting.
It was an exciting drive in the snow to the Canyon and a great hike up & back. He had a surprise tea on the peak overlooking the canyon, as well as brief stops at an excellent local eatery where I sampled delicious local meal & tea.
I would highly recommend this tour with him.Written 6 July 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We hiked to the waterfall and spent the afternoon enjoying the fresh mountain air.Written 10 September 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JGDynamoCanada2,158 contributionsWe hiked up the Ak-Sai Glacier last summer when we were in the area. We have hiked glaciers before in the Rocky Mountains and they are always fairly easy hikes but still one must be wary as it is nature and she likes to play with you. Come prepared and anticipate it will take you the better part of the day, bring your camera as you will be surrounded by beauty, your camera will never do it justice but nice to have the visual to go with the memories.Written 1 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - JGDynamoCanada2,158 contributionsA short drive out of Bishkek is the glorious Sokuluk Gorge. Our fixer Timur got us there and back handily and helped us find some amazing day hikes while we were there in summer 2017. There was so much wildlife around, beautiful waterfalls, contrasting rolling hills covered in thick forest and well marked paths. It seems to be a popular hiking spot for many locals and tourists alike and we liked it too.Written 1 July 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Alex_Johnson_BishkekBishkek, Kyrgyzstan885 contributionsTashtar-Ata is an intresting place where tourists can see very old Kyrgyz Culture. It was explained to me that it was a spiritual place where people can find them self. There is huge stones where people beleave that these stones will heal severe illness, drug addiction. A person has to climb on the small mountain and then leave the stone on top of the pile to let go of someones health problems.
I had a nice time going there just so that I could get out of the city. I took my bike and it was an bit of a strange place. It would be nice if there was more information there, such as sign boards or marketing handouts.Written 3 March 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
