I like the idea of the park that it's free entry and you can just walk enjoying the delightful and happy atmosphere and get anything from cafes or shops while walking.
We tried one ride was nice but so short time.

One of the best winter trips I have ever taken. As a single female traveler always traveling solo, I was apprehensive about a snowy winter hike up a canyon. My tour guide was simply amazing. Mars was everything I could have asked for to feel secure & adventurous. First though, I have to say, my flight to Bishkek was diverted to Almaty due to snow & ice weather so I thought I would forfeit my tour. After speaking with Mars, he assured me that as I was the only participant for the day, he would await my flight. I arrived in Bishkek, 3 hours later and he was waiting.
It was an exciting drive in the snow to the Canyon and a great hike up & back. He had a surprise tea on the peak overlooking the canyon, as well as brief stops at an excellent local eatery where I sampled delicious local meal & tea.
I would highly recommend this tour with him.

The moderate walk to a waterfall is about 5km return through some stunning scenery. Snow capped mountains and crisp fresh air made the day very enjoyable.

Walking in the mountains is very enjoyable and healing. The hot baths are an experience of their own as well, despite the somewhat neglected service and old-fashined "Soviet" style facilities. It was still a very very nice experience, i'd recommend to anyone.
Budda stone, old sanatorium, three hot baths (one of them is said to be with radonium, attention), and unspeakably beautiful mountains. Something to remember for sure.

Chunkuchak valley is around 45-60 minutes from Bishkek. The place is amazing and you can relax here for easily 4-5 hours. You either bring your own chairs/mat or rent from the many locals who offer areas to sit and chill. We rented the place for 4 hours and it was infront of the river. You can see the horses all around, eating grass, crossing the river and so on. Beautiful place to relax.

The infrastructure is not very new, but the nature of the resort takes your breath away. It's very beautiful, especially in winter. It's not just snow, but actual forest. Some tracks though can be dangerous because of the vegetation so keep that in mind. Resort itself is very cheap.

Very good place to learn to ski/board. There are couple cables for each level. Although on some days they open only some of them - so it is better to call in advance.
Also, if you have no-skiers there is a nice small cafeteria for them to relax
On weekends there are a lot of people there, so you will spend a lot of time in waiting line. Just be prepared for that because it is a problem with every ski complex in Kyrgyzstan

This park is very close to Ala-Too square.
It is full of beautiful mature trees.
There are also a number of seating areas that you can sit and enjoy the views.

From the highway, built by the Chinese, Boom gorge does not look impressive. On the part of Balykchi it is generally very wide, with rather sloping folds. Although from here you can see three massive mountain ranges. The most beautiful plot is located about half way from Tokmok to Balykchy where suddenly appear multi-colored rocks - this is the beginning of a long canyon Suluu-Terek, one of the most beautiful places to which from the road you must pass 5-7 km away. Here is the famous Red bridge and a walkway to the beautiful Konorchek canyons. And generally beauty of the gorge is better to look closer to the Chu river, not to the road. Although the landscape is somewhat diversified by railway tracks. They are used, but only in summer. It is rather a sightseeing attraction, because the train goes on the tracks 8 hours, while for the car is enough only three.

We hiked up the Ak-Sai Glacier last summer when we were in the area. We have hiked glaciers before in the Rocky Mountains and they are always fairly easy hikes but still one must be wary as it is nature and she likes to play with you. Come prepared and anticipate it will take you the better part of the day, bring your camera as you will be surrounded by beauty, your camera will never do it justice but nice to have the visual to go with the memories.

A short drive out of Bishkek is the glorious Sokuluk Gorge. Our fixer Timur got us there and back handily and helped us find some amazing day hikes while we were there in summer 2017. There was so much wildlife around, beautiful waterfalls, contrasting rolling hills covered in thick forest and well marked paths. It seems to be a popular hiking spot for many locals and tourists alike and we liked it too.

The Ataturk Park may be reached by bus 9, or trolley bus 11. Both can be taken from Manas Avenue near to the intersection with Chuy Avenue. The statue of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk will be seen to the left as soon as you enter the park. He lived between 1881-1938, and has statues in many countries, particularly in the muslim faith dominated countries. He was controversial for his reforms, but still respected by the muslim world.

He repelled the attempted British and French invasion of Turkey in 1915-1916, during WW1, and then instituted many reforms making Turkey the first modern muslim state. He took power of Turkey at a time when the Ottoman Empire, which ruled between 14th-20th centuries, was crumbling. After the civil war of independence, Turkey became a republic in the early 1920's. His reforms included, making education free and compulsory, changing the Turkish alphabet and giving women voting rights long before this was commonplace in the western world.

The path leading past the statue is nicely shaded, and there are beautiful waterways and small fountains along the path. At the end of the smaller fountains, which seem to be on timers, is a large fountain where paths intersect. The Ala Archa river runs very close to the park, so there is an abundance of water for the fountains. Many children's activity areas are also set up in the park, so it is great for a family visit.

There are two main paths in the park. If you take the path to the right, it will lead to the Afghanistan monument. The monument is a tall concrete structure that curves around a central sculpture. The central sculpture is of a soldier with gun in his right hand, supporting an injured colleague with his left hand.Afghan monuments tend to show the soldiers in a defeated pose. The years of the war 1979-1989 are at the base of the monument, and the names of the fallen soldiers on plaques to the right. To the rear of the statue is a small "man stone", which represents ancient Kyrygz burial culture. The names of fallen soldiers is also at the rear of the monument. This monument was opened in 1996.

There are a few F&B options in the park, including shaslik which we could smell as we strolled through the park. Immediately outside the park are quite a few fast food restaurants, and a few local restaurants. There are not many attractions in this area, but a visit here may be combined with a visit to Victory Park, which is approximately 3 km south east. The park has free entry, but didn't seem to be open 24 hours.

Headed to the Bir-Bulak Gorge on the recommendation of some friends of ours and we were not disappointed. It is beautiful and probably lovely any time of year but when we were there in August 2017 it was radiant! Everything in summer bloom, buzz of wildlife and some immaculate scenery, this really is a truly beautiful country, around every corner is another breathtaking vista. Anyway, the hike was rewarding and not complicated but always be prepared.
