Tumar is a great place to find some artisanal work. The store is a clean and has great products. Although the biggest downside is the price. The souvenirs are really expensive but I guess you're paying for the experience of buying the products.

Probably the best shop in Bishkek for picking up quality souvenirs. It has a small English book section as well. Great offerings for kids but check out the prints on the walls--unique, high quality and surprisingly affordable.

Lots of felt hats and accessories, some jewelry, pottery, and other handicrafts. Prices seemed very high.

This is the best bookstore in Bishkek and is a branch of the Raritet shops here. It is the best one, and is on Chuy. It has a wide selection of books for adults, children, and in multiple languages, as well as a selection for teachers. You should know some Russian to shop here, but you won't be disappointed. It is air conditioned. Since there are lots of stairs, it is not handicapped friendly. The staff do try in every way to help you find what you are looking for. The children's department is on the ground (first) floor, while the adult department is on the second floor, and the teachers department is on the lower (zero) floor. You will probably want to spend a lot of money while you are here.

So many cool things to be found in this art shop. Almost everything I looked at I was impressed with. Definitely a good place to visit, especially if you are looking for unique ethnic souvenirs. They have all sorts of original handmade goods. Also, it's a great chance to support local business. 😃🙌
P.S. You will be pleasantly surprised with prices and service quality.
