    Review of Kata Beach

Kata Beach is a fantastic spot, especially for families with children. The water is calm, with no big waves or strong currents, making it a safe and enjoyable place for kids to swim and play. The soft, golden sand is perfect for building sandcastles, and the gentle slope into the water makes it easy for little ones to splash around.

The beach itself is beautiful, with clear blue water and plenty of space to relax. However, it is quite popular, so expect a lot of tourists, especially during peak season. If you’re looking for a quiet, secluded beach, this might not be the best choice, but if you don’t mind the crowds, Kata Beach is a great place to enjoy the sun and the sea.

Overall, it’s a wonderful, family-friendly beach with safe swimming conditions and a lively vibe. Just be prepared for lots of people, especially during high season!

Fabulous afternoon feeding, mud scrubbing and showering the elephants. No riding and no chains, just sheer kindness.
For us two legged beings, the toilet and shower facilities here are immaculate, and lunch was really good too.
All the staff are so passionate about their mission. There were guys taking photos of us the whole time which they uploaded for us to access via a link and made no extra charge for!

The sand was so soft and the water was crystal clear. We spent hours lounging under the sun and taking romantic walks along the shore. The beach was perfect for both relaxation and fun activities. The nearby restaurants offered delicious seafood and the atmosphere was just perfect for a couple. Highly recommend

Lovely beach, beautiful white sand and sea was great to swim in or hire SUP/canoes etc. A good amount of sun loungers and umbrellas for hire and several beach restaurants, shops etc. Sunset was lovely there too.

This hotel is stunning, beautifully decorated but the location is both a blessing and a curse, views are great but you can’t walk anywhere and have to gets taxis or tuk tuks. Patong beach is just a couple of miles away but takes about 40 mins by taxi due to traffic, strongly recommend to go the other way to Kamala beach and use “blue umbrella” sunbed service for a relaxing day at the beach

Go early and when the restaurant opens you can get a lounger in the shade for free! It's limited on shade so be prepared to be in the sun all day if you don't get a bed.
Queues for the food are hectic at lunch time so skip breakfast and have an early ish lunch.
We got a boat to the beach which meant a free entry, otherwise its a trek to get there and back and 100baht to enter.

Beautiful beach, white sand, crystal blue sea. Would recommend the Beach Pig bar for a relaxing atmosphere to have something to eat, drink and soak in the fantastic view of the sea.

Very nice beach, we found it to be much better than kata beach as it was slightly quieter. Lots of sunloungers available for a good price and a 7-eleven very nearby too

Decent beach nothing wow, i would’ve expected something more different. The sand is soft and the water is nice. Little bit of trash and weird views here and there. Not so crowded now in december as people say so that’s nice. It’s worth the trip only if you are close to it.

Love this island so much. It feels like Thailand 40 years ago - so relaxing no over development - easy to get around. This is not an island to visit for a party - but a place to escape the outside world and relax!!! Beautiful beaches.l, amazing local restaurants and access to some of the tastiest seafood Thailand has to offer. Easy access to additional islands, can’t recommend this island enough

We went to the beach daily to watch the planes land and take off as our grandson desire is to become a pilot 👨‍✈️
Fab location 5 minutes from our hotel. Beautiful sunsets to die for but was shocked how much litter and plastic bottles are left over the beach. No one, even locals appear to pick it up.
Sand it lovely and you can take a beach towel and watch the sunsets but beware of the super fast translucent crabs 🦀😂😂😂
Gave us a few shocks. We went in August no rain but the red flag was up most days and a life guard in situ. Sea was too rough to swim.
We had a hotel infinity pool right on the beach so was more than happy to swim here till the sun went down.

Quiet resort near the airport. Beach OK, but the sunbeds could do with a clean! Lots of food stalls with seating on the beach. We had some good food and prices are more than reasonable. Great atmosphere at night when all the seating areas on the beach are lit up. Some nice small bars where the average price for a beer was 100 baht. Some of the more up market bars do add a service charge. A few bars have singers on at night, and we enjoyed most of them. As with other places in Thailand we found the people really friendly. We would definitely return.

The Sunday Night market at Phuket Old Town is quite an experience. It was filled with stores selling handmade souvenirs, some clothes, bags and lots of food.

We got the timing wrong and landed up just 30 mins before closing time. They are pretty strict with closing time as well. The market was wrapped up, cleaned and the road opened for traffic within 45 mins which was outstanding.

You can get lovely views of Karon and Kata beaches. The Big Buddha is also visible from up here. 15 -20 minutes is more than sufficient for a quick visit and some photography.
