- darmasmomManchester-by-the-Sea, MA189 contributionsWe took two tours with this company which I have reviewed separately under the actual tour names. (The Phi Phi island day trip and the James Bond sunset tour on the big boat). Phuket Sail Tours is a class act. I'm very glad we chose them.
The website is very informative. The booking is easy and they only require a 20 or 25% deposit. Cancellation terms are reasonable. They respond to emails in a timely manner. Communication the day before the trip was excellent. Pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned van was punctual. They have a little lounge with a bathroom where you can get food and drink before getting on the boat while others are arriving and final payments are made. The staff on land and sea are friendly and helpful.
We saw boats packed to the gills with people while we had groups of 9 and 14 on the two trips we took. We really loved the camaraderie that developed with our fellow tourists which wouldn't be possible with larger groups. We could easily move around the boat.
The staff seems very invested in showing its customers a good time. They plan the itinerary based on tides, crowds, and other factors. They are friendly and informative. The main tour leaders spoke fluent English and the other staff spoke enough English to get their instructions across and focus on safety.
The boats were clean and in good condition. The skipper, pilot or whatever you call the boat driver was skilled and experienced, familiar with the local waters.

David was incredibly helpful, providing me with all the information I needed and responding quickly to my questions. The organization on the boat was fantastic, and the entire crew was welcoming and attentive.
A special shoutout to Mama MOD, our instructor, who made the experience truly memorable. She was so kind, gave clear and thorough explanations, and made me feel completely safe, which is so important as I’m just starting out on my scuba diving journey. Her professionalism and warmth made a huge difference.
The food on the boat was delicious, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and had everything they needed. I always felt supported and secure throughout the dive.

Booking was a breeze, as was making payment. The first day, we chose Merlin Divers as they offered a trip to Racha Yai and Racha Noi for both divers and snorkelers. It was the first time we were on a boat for 80 divers/snorkelers, and while seeming chaotic, it was very well managed. The second day I dove at Phi Phi Islands and it was fabulous, easily in my Top 3 dive sites. My guide, pAe, was simply exceptional. His attention and thoughtfulness throughout the day was true concierge service. - Monica B1 contributionThis was the best day ever! I stumbled upon Sea Cave Tours through a Google search. We decided to do this for my birthday and it was perfect. From start to finish everything ran so smoothly and was so much fun. Great email communication when booking, the crew is wonderful, the food is delicious, the sites are unbelievable. 10 out of 10 rating and we absolutely recommend it to others. - Oharter34 contributionsFirst of all- the agent we booked through “Igor” was incredible. He met our every need and got back to us usually within a few hours, despite being in a time zone hours ahead. At one point we had an unfortunate event that was going to keep us from going the original dates, and he rescheduled with no issues.
Alex, the boat captain of the “Full Steam” was a very good captain. His cook, Pung, was the star of the show. Not only did she provide incredible Thai meals, but she was hilarious, entertaining, and a joy to be around. Alex was also able to get us a massage lady to come on board with us- Jen. She was also amazing and provided the best massages I’ve ever had!
A couple of things I think potential charters should understand about this boat & crew- this is an older boat with one bathroom. While most of the crew uses the bathroom outside of the boat, it is still very close to quarters. Even further to that point- the shower is located outside, and not in the bathroom. There is very little privacy and no hot water.
Your bedroom does not have a door on it. This adds to the ‘no privacy’.
While Alex is very good at captaining the ship, we found him a little lacking in local knowledge of the islands. Please note that you will need to be VERY specific with him about what you want. This is true of every charter to ensure good service. We were asked at the beginning of the charter if we wanted “caves” or “clear water”. Of course we chose clear water, not understanding that not seeing the “caves” would mean none of the limestone cliffs of Thailand. In the end it all worked out perfectly as we saw both the clear water and the limestone cliffs, but we did have to sail 8 hours one day. No big deal.
Also, to potential sailors- don’t go in May! I read everywhere that it’s mostly sunny in May with light passing showers- not true anymore. It rained the majority of the trip. We expected the heat, but not so much rain. This, of course, was not anyone’s fault. Just a warning to those thinking about coming in the “transition” time to the rainy season.
All in all- we would go again. We have dive experience in some of the most well known spots around the world and we find the islands surrounding Phuketas one of the best diving spots ever. Sea fauna and sea life is now well protected and everything was super well organized by Sunrise. Тем более, что вообще в последние 3 года приходилось погружаться только с англоговорящими (не "native speakers") инструкторами (Танзания, Египет, Доминикана) и чувствовалась некоторая ограниченность в коммуникации. Ольга ясно увидела пробелы в навыках, помогла их устранить, была профессиональной и достаточно требовательной. Причем происходило это всё в приятной, очень доброжелательной атмосфере. Собственно дайвинг тоже оставил весьма приятные впечатления, брал 2 дня (по рекомендации Ольги - Рача Ной + Рача Яй; Пхи Пхи + Shark Point) с интервалом в 3 дня. Каждый раз видел что-то новое и интересное для себя. Безусловно, 100% рекомендую RuDiver!
After a year break in my SCUBA diving experience I had a great opportunity to recover my skills by an aid of Mrs. Olga Zhilina from “RuDivers Club”, Phuket. Olga has had clearly recognized gaps in my skills and she was really attentive, professional, and rigorous while reviving my memory and closing those gaps. Besides, Olga is a pretty nice person and all of activities were followed by very friendly and kind atmosphere. Olga is a fluent English speaker as I saw from her communication with divers from various countries on the pier and on the dive boat. The 2-days diving itself were amazing with seeing beautiful and diverse underwater life. - Kimi N3 contributionsMy 15 year old daughter took the 5 day lesson (I took one so she actually took 4 lessons). I am very happy to have chosen Saltwater Dreaming Surf School over other schools as the lessons were very well structured and well explained and my daughter enjoyed surfing so much with them. We had a lot of fun. One day I got to see other schools’ lessons beside us and felt that her lessons were way better and professional. She improved quite a lot too. She was not happy to finish her lessons. We would like to come back again if/when we come back to Phuket!
