What travellers are saying
- Iulian ParvuLondon, UK179 contributionsThe view is absolutely breathtaking! Visiting the statue on the hill is a must, as there’s so much to explore up there. - Chaz WaterhouseShropshire, UK67 contributionsImmerse yourself at this beautiful temple in the heart of Chalong. Filled with photo opportunities, small stalls and of course all the surroundings of the beautiful temples that they have here. The main attraction for me was the fact that at the top of the main temple the remnants of one of Buddhas bones lays here. Cite you’re prayers, pay homage and be respectful in all aspects of your visit hereWritten 16 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sean BLondon, UK4 contributionsit was pretty cool. Even with all the buzz of Patong, this place is like a little oasis of peace. The colors and vibes of the temple are something else – really makes you feel chilled out. Definitely a must-see if you’re looking to escape the chaos for a bit and soak in some culture. Plus, it's a great spot for some insta-worthy shots! Don’t miss out on this gem.Written 16 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Robert LZeist, The Netherlands1,132 contributionsWat Khao Rang is a beautiful and peaceful Buddhist temple on the edge of Phuket town, near the famous Monkey Hill.
Standing out are the two enormous mythical guardians (giants) that protect the temple complex from evil spirits and intruders, as well as the large golden seated Buddha. He sits contentedly atop Rang Hill, overlooking the green valley.
Though this complex is much newer than, for example, Wat Chalong, it feels more authentic, less kitschy, and peaceful, serene. Best of all, it’s wonderfully quiet without the pushy tourists.Written 30 September 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Quiet area, nice temple and sites to see.. on a Main Street and very close to Karon Beach.
Easy to walk to from central Karon area and large traffic circle at beach.. smaller site so only need short visit. Fascinating tale behind the gold Buddha statue was that during the siege of Thalang the Burmese army tried to take the gold Buddha sculpture in vain. They only managed to dig up half the torso before being attacked by the wasps.Written 1 August 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Kaushik GMumbai, India3,991 contributionsWe had visited the beautiful Wat Mongkol Nimit temple in old Phuket town during our sightseeing tour of the old Phuket town. We liked the beautiful Pagoda style architecture of the temple tower and intricate colorful art work on the walls of the temple. At the backside there is a giant stupa which is surrounded by many golden colored small stupas. Inside the temple when we sat before the Lord Buddha it was very peaceful.Written 26 January 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
