It's always a wonderful experience to visit Reiman Gardens. They do a wonderful job with special events. If you're in Ames, don't miss it!

Beautiful campus. Combination of limestone and/or brick for most buildings--some very new, others have been there since the university was built. Grounds are well maintained. Large central park-like area in the middle of the campus. 3 gyms, plus outdoor recreation areas. Engineering, computer science, agriculture, and sciences rule here, but impressive facilities for other areas of study as well (design building comes to mind). Large Union with restaurants and university store, as well as a hotel. Has a large parking ramp, too. Stadium, arena, and performance venues located on the southeast corner of the campus. Have been here in all seasons and fall is also beautiful, as is winter. Quiet, safe, peaceful.
The only negative to this campus and university is the fact they now scent most buildings. Very noticeable in the Union and a few others. Just no reason for adding questionable chemicals to everyone's breathing air. Detracts from the experience and has obliterated the ambiance of some buildings. Odd and destructive.

Truly a blessing to the Ames community. Not only does this place foster great community, but it also offers a refuge for everyone in the living Body and Blood of Christ.

Wife and I went on a motorcycle ride on a Sunday. Went to Alluvial and wow!! The building and grounds very nice. The imperial milk stout, and oh henry batata autumn ale were exceptional. The art work is beautiful. Highly recommend this place

The Octagon is a great store to shop for unique artwork or just spend time enjoying the fine selections of different types of paintings, pottery, jewelry and many other preferences. They also have artistic classes and events to attend, as well as, permanent and rotating exhibits of artwork.

Although I am not a student, I was allowed free access to see the museum. The young lady at the counter pointed out the glass collection and where I could see a nice pair of jugs. The emerald color was spectacular.

Torrent Brewing’s Tap room is OPEN. 👍with all the stuff going on. It’s finally nice to find a place that is open. Torrent Brewing Co is not in the fanciest of buildings, but once you step through the door, they have done a great job with the available space. There is a spacious feel to the tap room. Good selection on tap. The IPA was good, but not great. Good wine selection for the wife’s that tolerate there husbands craft beer passion, but can’t get past mich ultra. Ames needs more Torrent Brewing Co. 👍👍

Prairie Moon winery is a fun place on Sundays in the summer months to enjoy outdoor live music and one of their unique wines along with one of their wood-fired fresh baked pizzas. You can also book weddings or parties in their large indoor banquet room.

Outstanding venue for college basketball. Great atmosphere with enthusiastic crowd. Not a bad seat in the house. Plenty of nearby free parking.

The building where many influential Iowa State heads or state figures have lived before, it has been restored and preserved to represent the period in which it stood from the late 1800s to early 1900s.

It is filled with many genuine items from that time period, and also doubles as a display for historical kerosene lamps. I spent about 30-40 minutes just wandering around the 3-story display between classes, and it definitely can keep your attention if you're looking to kill that time.
