Had a short visit in the island and had to pick one hike out of the available options.
Decided to visit Diamond Head and I am very happy with my choice, wonderful place with great view points.
Please note reservation in advance of parking and entry is required, so make sure to take the required action in order to enjoy this great place.

Great spot away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki.
I wish we’d stayed a couple of nights at least.
Plenty of food option around Haleiwa and surrounds and some nice beaches.
Be aware, a lot of the beaches are quite rocky so reef/water shoes are recommended.

This is an AMAZING and serene place to go. Absolutely loved the temple and the grounds around it. It a must see if you enjoy Japanese culture. The only reason I rated as 4, was because there wasn’t much to do and I was hoping we could go up to the second floor. But it’s a really cool place to go.

Soft and light sand, warm water, little waves, great mountain scenery to the west, trees that line the beach to provide shade, bathrooms, parking, fresh water rinse.
In other words, everything you want in a beach!
There’s also a breeze to keep you cool on a hot day.
Yes it gets crowded but it’s not thaaat bad.
I didn’t see trash, despite what some other people are saying in their reviews.
Some wind surfers to watch also.

This is one of the most beautiful, paradisiac beaches I ever seen. It’s a very special spot, with clear turquoise calm waters that allow you to swim and enjoy the ocean. The sand is white and fluffy and the views are just amazing.
Downside: No bathroom, no showers, hard to park (specially during the weekends)

We arrived at 12:15 and had just missed the 12 PM tour. We looked in the museum until the 1PM tour. Both the museum and tour were very informative covering the migration of workers into Hawaii.

We enjoyed our 2 hours there and our guide fed the fish as we were passing the ponds so we saw a Kingfisher have a fishy snack.

I definite stop if you are interested in a bit more than sand and surf.

We were advised to plan for most of a day, and this turned out to be true. Be ready for crowds of visitors. Docents were helpful.

This is one of the most beautiful beaches in Oahu. This is definitely a must see, specially if you are looking to be in a more reserved beach where you can appreciate nature without the business of tourists. Don’t get me wrong, there will be tourists, but it’s a completely different vibe than Waikiki. Parking is very limited, you have to arrive early, or you can pay $20 to park across the street in the Waimea valley.

The view was great from this lookout spot, just be aware that it is $7 to park just to spend a few minutes looking and taking photos. Not saying it's not worth it...just FYI.

Located on the windward side of Oahu, Waimanalo Beach is known for its turquoise blue waters and white sand. The beach is an uninterrupted 3-mile long one. There is a north and south entrance. At the northern end, it is called Waimanalo Bay State Park and the southern end is known as Waimanalo Beach Park. Both have the same amenities (showers, restrooms, picnic tables, lifeguard) but the park has camping by permit only.

This is a HUGE, free botanical garden. If you like plants, please go. This is really big, and I would advise you to go by car so you can walk in between sections more easily and stop whenever you want or go prepared to walk a bit. This is really pretty and amazing place to go.

There’s a lot here and some great discounts IF you’re looking for something specific.
There’s a lot of “high end” representation and whilst my wife and daughter had a great time, my son and I spent a lot of time waiting outside stores.
Do try the food trucks in the side car parks however as there’s some great options.

Our family really enjoyed the docent-led tour at Iolani Palace. I highly recommend it when visiting Hawaii to learn more about the history of the Hawaiian monarchy and the time period when the US annexed Hawaii. Very interesting history that many Americans don't know.

Ka’ena Point State Park is a remote coastline park that overs hiking, picnicking, fishing and sea glass searching. It wraps around the northwest corner of Oahu and has two sections: the Keawa’ula Section on the west side and the Mokuleia on the north shore. There is no way to drive from one section to the other. We visited the Mokuleia section. A marked trail will take you to the westernmost point of Oahu is Kaena Point. Ka’ena means “the heat” and was named after the brother of Pele, the goddess of volcanoes and fire. According to legend, this is the place where souls of ancient Hawaiians would jump off in the spirit world to unite with their ancestors. The hike is 2.7 miles one-way along a volcanic coast with tide pools. Bring plenty of water and sunscreen.
