We lucked out with a private tour by Floyd. He met us off our cruise ship (we were super late and he was so personable) and whisked us away through the city and countryside with a wealth of information about Belize. He led the three of us through the trail and caves and set us up with lunch ready for us when we came back (this does cost an extra $10 per plate but well worth it). The drive back was quiet, and despite a very long wait due to an accident on the road we were back in plenty of time! Highly recommend!

This is hands down my favorite tour in Belize thus far! My boyfriend & I booked the 7 mile cave kayak adventure pretty last minute and communication with Going Coastal was smooth & easy throughout the entire process! We met up with our guides Jessica, Elvis, and Jason who were all so knowledgeable and fun to be around. It shows how much they truly care about the conservation of these areas and love what they do. We took a short 4x4 ride in their truck where Jessica explained the flora around us and we spotted some coatimundis! Upon reaching the start of the cave they made sure everyone was comfortable and we set out to start exploring the Mayan underworld. Halfway through we stopped for lunch where they set up a cyo burrito bar (hits the spot!) and we swam in the clear blue water before setting out to explore more of the cave system. They also snapped some pics for us so we will have memories of this awesome experience :) I would recommend this to all adventure lovers!

Our travel guide was a local named Victor. We were picked up on-time in a beautiful air conditioned van. On the drive to Xunantunich, Victor told us all about Belize. The things he knew and shared with us made the trip enjoyable for me and my husband. My teenage daughters were listening but still waking up. When we got to the ruins we took this quick ferry ride across the river to drive into the area where we left the van and walked to the ruins. It was hot but Vic stopped in the shade when was explaining all about the site. We climbed to the top and after we saw monkeys, a boa constrict and a huge iguana. We also had a chance to talk to an archaeologist that was working there. After the ruins, we did some shopping and had a local lunch… delicious. Our next stop was cave tubing with Vita. It was nice to cool off. Victor made two extra stops for us, we swam in Blue Hole and stopped for ice cream and had the best ice cream I’ve eaten. On the way back to the resort Victor joked around with us; we danced, laughed and sang. He even stopped to show us the fruit of a cashew. This was a special day that we will never forget.

If you are physically active, DEFINITELY do the combo of cave tubing AND cave exploration.
My group of friends is pretty adventurous and we have never explored a cave at this extreme level. With only our headlamps to guide us in the complete blackness, we climbed up and down steep inclines and boulders, squeezed ourselves through tiny crevices that then opened into beautiful massive caverns, got to awe at the “glitter” that decorated the cave ceiling and walls. We absolutely got dirty as we went spelunking through the caverns. This is NOT hiking with stairs and railings. This is very physical and not for those that don’t seek adventure. If you want to challenge yourself, do it! We loved every second of it!
After getting very dirty and very sweaty, we got to swim in the crystal clear fresh water inside the cave and the relax and float our way back to the entrance.
Our guide Vida was exceptional. We would NEVER have gotten to explore the way we did without him. He took us to places in the cave we didn’t think we could go - showing us how to wedge our backs on one wall and push our feet on the other and scale up and over spaces and reach new depths of the cave.
Personally - if we had ONLY gone cave tubing, I don’t think I would have enjoyed it very much. I would have been a bit bored. In addition, without a guide, you are not allowed to explore the cave like we did. Simply too dangerous, so get a guide! But after the spelunking without guide, along with learning about the cave and why it glitters in gold and silver and white, the cave tubing was the PERFECT end to an amazing experience.
Highly recommend if you want to test yourself and do something you have probably never done before!

We were told afterwards that this is the most difficult cave to visit in Belize. The driver Ashton was right on time and very engageable fellow as we were driving to the cave and back. Walter was our guide and he certainly knows a lot about Belize and caving. The hike from the parking lot is pretty strenous and muddy and then definitely you want to be fit to enter and descend into the cave as it is pretty slippery and good footwear and arm strength is required. This is not walk down some stairs stuff. We were the only 3 people in the cave. Some tight spots and this is full on spelunking and bouldering. Still my partner is 67 years old and she did okay and I am 63 and we came back out happy and really dirty. It all washed out okay later. Lots of interesting formations. Good lunch afterwards and nice to go swimming.

My friend and I strongly wanted to do kayaking instead of tubing and our decision was confirmed when we arrived at the site. The short hike was fun, with Marco being a fun guide (we tasted termites!). The entry point to the river was beautiful and it was so much more exciting to paddle upstream into the caves than just floating down on tubes. Paddling wasn't too hard but definitely takes a good amount of energy. Bats swooped around the ceiling as our headlamps passed, and the underground river as seen by our small lights felt very adventurous. We had a detour to climb up a cave wall to see Mayan pottery shards, then back to the downstream portion of the kayak. The rapids made me nervous at first, but they weren't really too bad and we had no incidents.
That was followed by a big lunch, ordered ahead of time, so it was ready right away. Really tasty. Then a longer drive to Xunantunich, which worked out great since we were staying in San Ignacio, not going back to Belize City.
At Xunantunich, we went into the museum for some information about Mayan culture before walking around the site. We weren't able to see all of it because it was getting later in the day, but it was impressive and a good way to whet our appetite for a later trip to Tikal.
I definitely recommend Marco as being very friendly and helpful!

Did this without a guide, and just took the smaller entrance off the hummingbird highway ($8 BZD pp). Beautiful spot for a dip to cool off. There are changing facilities there too if needed.

The guide was kind and knowledgeable. We had 2 small kids but the guide was always cheerful and trying to help. first treking part was little challenging for the children, but after all, we all enjoyed cave and beautiful lake. its really really pretty color and magical to be there. Kayaking equipment is very clean and well prepared. we really appriciate this preparation and excellent service provided. I want to visit again with adult group for furture adventure.

This was a great tour with our amazing guide Miguel. He really knew the caves and every loose rock of it as well as the Mayan culture. Lunch was also very nice and of course the rum punch at the end.
Consider if you want to do it that it is a great experience but also quite challenging physically and a bit mentally as well (especially if a little claustrophobic).

Ivan and Jason were great guides for our group of 10 ages 11-51 November 2022. Somehow our resort or the excursion company did not properly prepare us that we needed long pants but we were able to get them and still enjoy the full experience. We felt safe and they were very professional, helping the less experienced climbers in the group overcome challenging obstacles but never pressuring us to do anything we weren’t comfortable doing.

The highlight of our trip was this cave tubing excursion! Antwon was our driver and our river guide was great as well! Their service was unmatched, so polite and friendly! Plus the food was some of the best I’ve ever had. I’d fly back to Belize for one day just to do this again! Not an experience I’ll soon forget!

Where do I begin? I was googling different tours that picked up in Hopkins since that’s where I was staying and I came across Julian’s transfers and tours. Every tour guide we had was amazing and Julian himself was awesome. From being very responsive with emailing me back right away to accommodating me with whatever tours I wanted to add .We did the Mayans ruins and blue hole tour as well as the chocolate tour. We also did horseback riding and snorkeling. Reginald was awesome with the horseback riding. We had such a blast! And the captains of the snorkeling boat were so patient with me as I was scared to snorkel since it was my first time. I highly recommend Julian’s tours -they arrived on time to pick us up and were very informative and fun! Thanks Julian!
