An absolute must see, and if you can get performance tickets - an absolute must hear too. Even if it is the last row back in the far end corner of the concert hall, it’s totally worth it - the performances are top class and the acoustics is superb.

The building alone is worth a look and even better when you visit to watch a show. I came here to watch the Elvis musical and it was an excellent venue for a show

I attended yesterday's matinee of Boomkak Panto and it was terrific. Just the sort of play for Christmas time. The actors were very good and were obviously enjoying themselves as well as working hard during dance sequences etc. Highly recommended if you just want a fun time. But be aware - it closes 23 December!

A fabulous day and return visit for me. i introduced a friend to this theatre.
The theatre is very well positioned for a memorable day, where you can grab lunch/wine or ice cream. The choices around are amazing with great atmosphere.
The theatre is easily accessible and great to get in and out quickly.
Plenty of natural light and lots happy people around.
The show we watched was Oracle and it was amazing. The final day of showing and a great day indeed.

Saw several bands here over the years in the theatres old guise and have been once after the revamp.

The theatre has been a staple for decades - many Sydney residents will recall having seen bands here down the years. The place is on a main road and there are a mass of eateries nearby for pre or after show food and drink options. If you are coming by public transport then there is a train station not far away.

The place itself looks a lot classier than the fairly dated situation previously. It's a lot brighter the sound seemed OK on my one post-refurb visit. Finding your seat is easy and even at the back I had an OK view.

Best attribute of the STC is the wide diversity of shows and theatre; you can be guaranteed that every performance you see is different to the last. Loved the Wharf Review, such and intellect and cut through of the events of the year whilst Cosi was unique in its own way.
I didn't enjoy it but that's a personal thing, had wanted to see it for over 20 years but always missed out. I can understand the background to it and why others love it, just not my thing. But again, that's why the STC is important, it caters for a variety of tastes and interests.

Urinetown - don't be put off by the name! This musical is a very enjoyable romp! The cast are all wonderful, giving 110% all the time. (They must be exhausted at the end of the show). If you just want some light entertainment, see the show. It ends on 5 February.

Music program has something for everyone and always well presented and organised. Central location in the CBD with easy access to public transport. Mobility accessible. Bars open prior to performances offering drinks/snacks. If looking for something more, BYO, as sandwich offerings limited and pricy ($13 for 4 slightly soggy sandwich rectangles).

The Wharf Revue is on and up to its usual tricks. No-one is spared be it Pride & Prejudice, The Outlaws of Sherwood, a bit of Kevin, Albo, ScoMo, even Putin and Biden.
As always, Drew Forsythe is wonderful taking on different personas, ably supported by Jonathan Biggins, Mandy Bishop (love her Jacqui Lambie) et al.
    Thoroughly entertaining, til 10 December

This converted church in Kent Street has been the home for this semi- professional play group for 80 years. I first visited in 1987, and when I returned in 2023, I was very relieved at how little had changed (even retained that conforting mustiness of old libraries that is now typically obliterated by confected signature scents).
Watched “A Streetcar Named Desire”- the powerful acting the intimate venue, and the pared down sets alluded to a time before AI, CGI, and Netflix - and this was again the case with “Love Letters” this year.
Those at the front of house have also been actors on previous productions and are keen to share anecdotes and chat.
“There are no strangers - just friends we haven’t met yet” reflects the bonhomie of this gem of a venue.
With plans well advanced to move to a new venue in the inner west (the church has been sold for commercial development), there is a limited time to experience a truly unique and affordable theatrical experience.

Loved this show, very funny and some extremely talented comedians and performers. Not for the prudish or those easily offended but we loved it.

Went to see the Teskey Brothers last night @ the Metro. Haven't been there for years. What a great set up! Tiered standing room, floor @ stage front & balcony areas to view. Great lighting & thought the sound was excellent. Teskey Bros has a 7 peice band with horn, percussion, string, keyboard & vocal and the clarity was clear & balanced. We were on the first tier standing & we were really happy there. The bar offered quick turn around service with a limited but okay range of bevies. It was packed inside the venue & ,@ times , a bit stuffy but the aircon was ramped up mid performance & conditions greatly improved. Security was good & friendly too so the vibe is relaxed & fun for all.The very sticky floor helps you keep your spot!😉
