- AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain9,932 contributionsErmita de San Baudelio is a little church located on land, near the town called Berlanga de Duero, in Soria Region, in the center of Spain. It is a wonderful Mozarabic church built in the 10th Century and one of the first churches in the region. The church is not especial, but inside the church there are wonderful pictures of the 10th Centuries, one of the most beautiful well-preserved pictures with colors of this period. Really incredible! Great! It is a hidden gem in the region. Fantastic for history and art-lovers. Very recommendable.
Pitifully, some of the pictures were plundered in the 20th Century, so you can not see all of them.

It is a very nice castle, which you can see, when you arrive to the town by car, because it is located in the highest point, in a little mountain. It was built as a Muslim Fortress , but it was destroyed and int the 15th Century, it was rebuilt as you can see now including a second wall, which is nearest the town. The castle is very nice, pitifully it was closed, when we visited the town, so we can only see it from outside and we try to arrive to the castle from behinf, where there is a pathway. In fact, it was the second time, we try to enter to the castle, and it wa closed again. Bas luck, we will return a third time! ;-)

It was built in the 16th Century in the place, where previously, there was another church. Ith has a very nice facade and a bell tower. The inner side is very beautiful, specially the archs and the ceiling. Really a very interesting and nice religious building.

It is a crumbling village with a crumbling castle, sitting on a spur formed by a bend in a tributary of the Duero. There are only 19 people living there so it is more like a large family than a village. The elevation is 1069 meters so it is very cold in the winter. I can't imagine life here in January. You can reach Rello either from Berlanga de Duero on SO152 and SO 132 or from Almazán taking CL 101 and SO 132. The approach is dramatic: the road runs through a green and pleasant valley and suddenly Rello looms grim and stark high above you. The road climbs up to the main wall, crossing the rocky spur from side to side. You leave your car outside and walk into the village. There is little information on the date of this castle and the walls or whether it served the Muslims as a strongpoint. Whatever its history, Rello is a most unusual survival. I have only visited one other village like this, Urueña, west of Valladolid. But, other than the view and a stroll through the ancient streets, there is little reason to spend much time here. The small restaurant La Muralla would be a good place to have a drink or a needed cup of coffee.Written 14 September 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AlbertSalichsManresa, Spain9,932 contributionsPlaza Mayor is the main square of the little town of Berlanga de Duero, in Soria Region, in the center of Spain. It is built in Spanish-style of the region and it is a typical construction in Castilla Region. In the Middle Ages, it was the most important place in the city, where there was the Town Hall and probably the Market place. It is nice, not more, but I am sure, if you walk around the town (is so little), you see it.

It has a very big and nice facade, pitifully, nowadays only remains the main facade. The inner rooms are totally destroyed, so you can only see it. In the inner side, there is the tourism office. Very nice facade, which you can see with the castle and take a very beautiful photo.

In fact, it was a female monastery until the middle of 2021, when the last 4 nuns go to other monatery due to their old age. So, it was abandoned and I hope it will be preserved to visit in a future.
The church is in the average, not more.
