What travellers are saying
- Smccaf17 contributionsWent to see Christy Moore. There was no Declan Sinnot but oh my stars he was not missed!!! Best Christy Moore gig ever and I’ve been going since 1986!Written 5 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - SteveS1970Coventry, UK7,332 contributionsThis was the first pub we came to when we arrived in Dublin. Lovely decor, friendly staff, a few locals and a not too expensive pint of Guinness. We came back a few times during our stay but couldn’t get in one day because it was so popular.Written 18 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Aideen BDublin, Ireland186 contributionsWe came across this pub on Wexford Main Street, while on a weekend there.
It looked like the liveliest place on the street,so we went in for a drink and luckily got 2 seats at the bar. There is outdoor seating also and barstools facing out a large window onto the main street,so good for people watching.
Bar staff are very good and there is a nice buzz to the place - an impromptu singsong even started up! Great craic!Written 12 May 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Sean, the owner, is on hand to welcome his guests and the pub exudes charm, friendliness and open hearted welcome. Many pubs in rural Ireland are disappearing because of changes in social habits and access. Fortunately, the Fisherman is still going strong. The night we visited there were four wonderful local musicians performing. If you are visiting Ireland and want to avoid the usual tourist traps, then this is a must visit.Written 7 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Joe D1 contributionFantastic pub - best pint of Guinness I had in Dublin and the friendliest welcome. It was the first Guinness I had in Dublin, the barman told me I would find a better pint anywhere else in the city. He was correct.Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Max_from_NYNew York284 contributionsDidn't take long for us to fall in love with this place. The server gave us good recommendations for trying a four-beer flight. We then got pints and ate dinner off the food menu. Selections are limited, but we really enjoyed our chicken and sausage sandwiches. The Irish whiskey selection is carefully curated and comprehensive. I asked for a recommendation; the server brought over three bottles and took the time to give me a full description of each one. We might come back to Kilkenny just to go to this place again!Written 7 November 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FaithPickeringBedford, UK46 contributionsThe waiter in a pub where we had dinner recommended this pub as a proper locals pub. It was a lovely, welcoming, friendly pub on a really fun street. A mix of old boys betting on horses, single professionals and couples.Written 22 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - trvl4expBengaluru, India40 contributionsA very relaxed evening, great fun, music, crowded but not overwhelming, got a table after a small wait on the weekend. Fantastic ambiance, foot tapping music, cold brews and hearty bar food, with some good Irish options. A relaxed and enjoyable evening.Written 24 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Andy JHinckley, UK41 contributionsWent back with friends for another visit. It takes a bit of effort to get there, but it is always worth it. Pat and his staff are super friendly as are the locals. Top Guinness. It has a fab view on a clear day. The pub is proper authentic and a joy to visit. Hopefully we will be back. My advice, go check it out.

We were met by a nice fella behind the bar whom served our drinks with a chat and a smile.
We sat by a window that overlooked the river Liffey and could quite easily stayed for many hours.
A very pleasant experience.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
