- Mauro CMilan, Italy164 contributionsInteresting experience to see how pharmacy used to work in the past. The aboca experience is nice but too much related to the comoany that produce medicines….Written 4 August 2021This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - triptraveller356 contributionsWe travelled to Sansepulcro (and to Arezzo and Monterchi) to view masterpieces of Piero della Francesca.
The civic museum in Sansepulcro contains two masterpieces - and viewing is quiet, uncrowded, and an experience of contemplation.

I was not prepared to be quite so touched by this very tiny but special, special place. A remarkable spirit of peace imbues Montecasale, making it an unforgettable highlight of our eight day trip to Tuscany. We stayed in Sansepolcro, from which Montecasale is an easy drive. (The distance is also hikeable; one young member of our party walked there and back, taking two hours each way due to the many switchbacks up the steep mountain.) The rustic simplicity, unpretentiousness, very limited nods to modernization, and small size of Montecasale contribute to its power, along with the history of Francis himself. Highly recommended: a guided tour of the chapel and monastery, arranged in advance (our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke only Italian, but we had a good translator). Spectacular views, exquisite mountain air. Go when you are not on a tight schedule; allow time for it to speak to you.Written 21 December 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Patricia GInverness, Scotland, United Kingdom163 contributionsThe cathedral is very interesting but there is a little chapel where Piero Della Francesca is buried. It is very beautiful. There was one of the guides there who was really helpful and explained everything.
The paintings and Della Robbia sculptures were excellent.Written 25 April 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. During our Sansepolcro stay 12-18 October 2019 we found Maja to be:
• Friendly and courteous
• Helpful in answering questions
• Excellent at directing us to things that she knew we would be interested in – not just the “same speech for everyone”
• Very good at providing guidance in English – we know only a few words in Italian
Yes, we were very fortunate to have met Maja on our first, of many, visits to the Sansepolcro Tourist Office. The office has all of the information that a visitor needs.
We thank Maja for making our stay in Sansepolcro and our visits to the surrounding areas just perfect. Please thank her for us.Written 5 November 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A lovely little church and a beautiful statue of St. Frances contemplating life.Written 28 May 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - PierreGolosoParis, France17 contributionsOne masterpiece only here, splendid and disturbing. Rosso had to face the sack of Rome (1527) and this probbaly reflects his mood after an event that closed the 'smiling Renaissance'. Look at the strange face looking at you over the Christ's body. Devil? Ourselves? Who knows! A terrific counterpart to another painting by Rosso Fiorentino in Volterra!Written 13 December 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DFD1303Brisbane, Australia717 contributionsRight beside where Piero della Francesca was born is the Church of San Rocco, where Piero must have gone to Mass in his youth. It is quite close to his Statute which is in the nearby park.
The Church has a mystic feel and I stayed for a while to look and admire the 13th century wooden sculpture and the precious paintings of The Resurrection by Raffaelino dal Colle and St Sebastian by Leonardo Cungi.

This museum offered a more personal look into one of Sansepolcro's most prolific yet lesser known artists. During the year they host various expositions of other local artist, but we were lucky enough to see the beautiful Franco Alessandrini Association Collection. The location is not always open, we simply called the number on the door and were greeting by a nice man who gave us a private tour.Written 8 September 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - xerxes52Manchester, UK21 contributionsWe came here because our kids were looking for a place with waterslides. It's a pleasant location with big and small pools, deckchairs etc, and a couple of slides - but they were out of order on the day we arrived. Also the opening times weren't as advertised on the website, so worth checking before you go.Written 22 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
