Had the best time whale watching in Iceland! Very knowledgeable guide who pointed out the two different whales we saw and made it a fun group activity. So happy to be able to see animals in their natural habitat. Also loved seeing the crew get excited about whale encounters.

The Whale Watching Cruise was so much fun! The staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The boat was comfortable, and we saw several humpback whales and a bunch of puffins. Highly recommend!

We saw a bunch of whales. All of the boat operators communicate with each other so you have an excellent opportunity to see whales. The speedboat got us really close to a humpback. It was so incredibly cool. Well worth the money. Our guide was a sweetheart and taught us all about the whales we were seeing. Will do this again definitely.

We were booked on this two-part trip. Unfortunately we received a call in the morning to say that the whale-watching trip on that day was cancelled due to weather, but it was re-booked for another day. The Northern Lights trip did go ahead and the trip was as good as we could have expected in the circumstances. The boat was large with all the facilities you would expect, plus warm body-suits were available to allow us to stay on deck if desired without getting frozen. We did get to see the lights, although it was only for the last 30 minutes of the trip and they were fairly underwhelming in all honesty. Obviously that’s not the fault of the tour company, but it did mean we needed to book additional trips on subsequent nights to try and see a better show, as having technically seen the lights on our booked trip, we couldn’t take advantage of the offer of additional free trips should the lights not appear.

The postponed whale watching trip was also cancelled due to weather, but when requested, we did received a partial refund on the tour cost, as we were unable to do the whale-watching before the end of our trip.

An absolutely incredible, once in a lifetime experience. The boat is very comfortable and the staff are incredible, nothing felt like too much on either of the boat trips. They even supplied anti-sickness tablets for my wife, I would highly recommend everyone going to Iceland take part in this.

Tour guides and staff were friendly and accommodating. We were offered overalls in case you didn’t bring waterproof pants and jackets. Our tour was considered “rough” due to 20-30min winds and gusts up to 40mph. I pregamed with a meclizine 24 hours prior to the trip and then again 3 hours prior and did not get sea sick. They do offer the pills there free of charge but it won’t do much since it takes 30-60min min to work in my opinion. So if the weather forecast is looking rough, pregame with meclizine ahead of time. We saw some porpoises but no whales. Disappointing but not the captains fault. Overall good trip.

A first class operation! A fabulous experience. It is amazing how many whales you can see so close to the capital city of Iceland, We had a ten-hour layover on our way to Spain and took advantage of the down time. The trip was well organized and the guide, Lucas, was amazing. Lucas was knowledgable and entertaining. Of course, the highlights of the trip were the whales. We briefly saw some Harbor Porpoises, had many views of Minke Whales, and a LONG, LEISURELY encounter with a massive Humpback Whale! WONDERFUL!!!

I went with my brother and this was a great package deal for our last day in Iceland. It allowed us to have a bit of a later start to the day and gave us plenty of time to get back later to the hotel to pack for our early morning flight back home.

We started with the lava show and were lucky to be in a small group, having front row seats to the show and the opportunity to ask lots of questions. The host for the show was super passionate and knowledgeable.

Although the weather was a bit rainy and gloomy for the whale watching it still was a super experience. The staff were friendly and welcoming, offering windbreaker jackets to stay warm and checked up on everyone throughout the trip. We saw a variety of sea life with the host talking us through each spotting and what it was we were seeing. The length of time was good enough to make sure we saw a variety of things and increase the opportunity to see something, whilst not being too long that you were wanting to head back to land. In the return journey Iceland was hidden by a wall of fog and there was something quite indescribable to be following the seabirds back to port, slowly watching as Iceland broke through the fog and the harbour became visible.

Overall, a great value experience package and I would recommend for anyone to do, with friends family or as a solo traveler!

We were not very lucky seeing whales. We saw some harbor porpoises and one or two minke whales briefly if you turned your head fast enough. Try to get on board first/early so you can get a good spot. Bring layers because the wind will get ya. Also bring binoculars if you can! Guide was knowledgeable and had fun facts about whales or other sea creatures. Despite not seeing whales much, we had clear skies and a beautiful view of the Icelandic landscape.

What an incredible experience! We saw three different humpback whales on our tour, and all of them were close enough to get some incredible views. The boat ride itself was very pleasant, with serene views of the Atlantic even when the whales were not around. It did take a while to find them, though we enjoyed drinks in the lounge in the meantime.

This tour is LONG, so be prepared to go to bed a bit late. There isn't likely to be anything open afterward so eat beforehand (the boat sometimes serves soup and sandwiches, but ours was out). I would also recommend coming prepared for the cold. Even though the weather on land was mild, out on the ocean it was freezing! They do offer some waterproof overalls to borrow on the boat if you'd like.

I'm really glad we chose to do this tour with Elding, who are respectable contributors to the research and conservation of Iceland's whales. It was clear to us that Elding was dedicated to the well-being of the animals we were visiting, and that they went out of their way not to disturb the whales in the process.

By the way, if you don't want to be bogged down trying to get photos yourself during the tour (and it's really hard to do - the whales are fast!), the tour guide will send you the professional photos afterward on request. I really recommend emailing about it. We got some beautiful pictures of the whales for friends and family without missing a moment ourselves!
