I only needed to buy one for me as children are free - and they can skip the line with you - you just need to take their passports as proof of age. - Kris HWesley Chapel, FL11 contributionsWhat a great way to see the Vatican City. Our guide, Mario was outstanding. He not only was extremely knowledgeable but he was entertaining too. This is a quick paced 3 hour tour that hits the highlights. We had time after to explore on our own. I recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see The Vatican for the first time. Mario encouraged us to explore and learn as much as we could. He suggested other tours that would be more in depth but we only had time for this one. She knew the important things to see, just where to position our small group [7] & where to sit down! Important because the Vatican is a lot of stairs. If wanted, she took our photos with each of our phones at key spots. Thoughtful and funny. - EstiMiami, FL49 contributionsWe bought a combined skip the line ticket and explored the sites without a tour guide. I preferred this as we read up in advance and brought a book with us. There’s a lot to see and lots of ground to cover, so wear comfortable shoes and go at your own pace.
I recommend about half a day (we booked a Friday morning about 2 days in advance) and went after a heart breakfast.
Note, they don’t allow glass bottles in to the colosseum so we had to drink or throw the water out. Take liquids in a plastic bottle for this trip. Her art history background was clear from her extensive knowledge and her passion for the works of art elevated our experience. Skip the line is a must. Amil had us through security quickly and on with the tour. Words or pictures dont to this experience justice, you have to be there. And the best way to experience it is with a knowledgeable guide giving you background information and directing your attention. The small group numbers made it very personalised and we could ask all questions.
