What travellers are saying
- Makayla W1 contributionI opted for the cable car ride up instead of hiking it on foot as many people said it would be a strenuous journey. It wasn't the be all end all, but still a lot of fun.Written 25 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Paul WBridport, UK17 contributionsInformative and interesting history of the development of the cave defence system of Gibraltar. Of particular interest was the James Bond author, Ian Fleming’s link to the use of the tunnels during WW2 and also the evacuation of Gibraltar’s civilian population.Written 13 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Marko MHollola, Finland296 contributionsWe saw lot of Barbary macaque when we visited on the Rock of Gibraltar. Those are used to people so taking photos is relatively easy. But don't eat anything, because monkey try to steal food if it's possible.Written 12 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - permiaIreland68,402 contributionsFor over 20 years major developments have continued here. Substantial residential plus numerous restaurants and cafes are available.
Marinas are a further attraction and multitudes of crafts of all kinds were to be seen.Written 15 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It's served at most times by pubic toilets although on our latest visit it closed at the weekend inconveniencing many.
Sadly a couple of the half decent cafes operate a priority admittance policy at weekend lunchtimes where, however many times you've spent time and money at their tables in the week, only a full meal is an acceptable order. This whether the tables are fully used or not. Two who operated this policy when we tried to take coffees and snacks, are Rock Cafe and Latinos, both of whom welcomed us with open arms earlier in the week.Written 14 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It became a meeting place for Garrison Officers but also was an essential component of training for military personnel.
Luxurious furnishings and comforts are paramount. A plethora of volumes and tomes are kept in bookcases, some quite venerable looking. It was interesting to see multiple bound volumes of the National Geographic magazine.
Lovely gardens provide open air spaces for relaxation amongst the grand flora.
It continued as a military Library till 2011 when it was acquired by the state.Written 17 March 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Just inside the entrance to the Nature Reserve, it has a raised viewing area from where you get brilliant views of Morocco across the sea, as well as the bay twords Alegeciras.Written 25 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The archelogy talk given really helped to bring history and significance of the area to life, as well as giving lots of detail and history of the Neanderthal people who once lived here.
Unfortunately as I visited out of season I was unable to go down into the caves, this is only possible during certain months and via prior arrangement only.
Also worth noting is that this attraction only has very short operating hours (10am to 2pm) so time your visit!
There is a combined ticket available for both Gorham's Cave and The Gibraltar National Museum which is good value for money.Written 8 January 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. A pleasure to stroll along given its pedestrianised nature, it was grand to linger and admire garnd architecture on both sides.

Not a typical ornate church as you expect on the continent. - permiaIreland68,402 contributionsIt’s an impressive piece of firing power. With a sobriquet of The Rockbuster it was installed in the Napier Battery.
