We used a white taxi person carrier for our tour as the Cable Car was under Maintenance.
We found our guide Gareth in CaseMates Square and did the extended tour . Our tour was off season, in a Sunday and cost us £75 pp. We visited the Pillars of Hercules The Monkeys. St Michael's Cave. The War Tunnels , The Suspension Bridge. The Castle and the Skywalk. We were not rushed and had an amazing day. Well worth every penny.

Informative and interesting history of the development of the cave defence system of Gibraltar. Of particular interest was the James Bond author, Ian Fleming’s link to the use of the tunnels during WW2 and also the evacuation of Gibraltar’s civilian population.

We saw lot of Barbary macaque when we visited on the Rock of Gibraltar. Those are used to people so taking photos is relatively easy. But don't eat anything, because monkey try to steal food if it's possible.

What a specular hike. It isn't for the novice, and does require some prior hoking experience. But the MedStep was specular, and a really great experience. You get to see some great views on the back of The Rock, and also challenge your hoking skills. You do need to be careful as some of the paths are narrow and unsupported. But the views and 2nd to none across the whole of the island.

The cafe is not immediately obvious, but you'll be glad you found it. Full hot meals, tea and cakes, or just a cup of coffee.

We stayed 3 nights in Royal Ocean Plaza which is located in Ocean Village. The location is excellent, 15 minutes walk from the frontier. It is also closed to Casemate Square with many shops and restaurants.

The room is fully furnished and an excellent choice for 3 of us. We liked it that it comes with a washer and dryer. Security is good with a pass code needed to get into the building.

You would have a front seat view to the Rock of Gibraltar from the balcony.

Across the apartment is the bus terminal and there are 2 supermarkets - Eroski is located close to the frontier and Morrison is about 15 minutes walk from the apartment.

We came here from Spain, so the traffic on the left was strange. Even walking down the main street, we felt like we were in Britain: English street names, the red double decker buses, the traditional red phone boxes and post boxes (Royal Mail), the black bins, the shop signs. A photo of Admiral Nelson's statue is a must, as is a picture of the Guinness beer drinkers on the terrace of the Lord Nelson Pub. Unfortunately, we had little time and had to hurry.

Small city botanical park that is free to enter.

Cactus section was my favorite,  numerous varieties,  sizes  shapes and textures.

Park benches throughout and free toilets.

I expected a completely different experience, but (for the geographical position in the European continent) Gibraltar remains a must, not to be missed if you are travelling in the south west of Spain. The cable car is expensive (19 UK pounds for adults and 17 for over 65, meaning 21 euros) for a 6 minute ride return. But the alternative is walking on a sealed road, together with taxis: not a nice option! And in summer should be very hot ☀️ The advanced purchase of the tickets is absolutely necessary to reduce the visitor lines!

This is a different experience than the Great Siege Tunnels, but it is also included in the price for the Nature Reserve. If you are walking down from the top of the Rock, as I was, this is basically right on the pathway down, and is a good second stop after stopping at the Great Siege Tunnels, which are higher up.

These tunnels are on a much grander scale than the Great Siege tunnels, and the technology behind them is amazing, as most of them were drilled out in a short time during WWII, for use as dormitories, offices, even hospitals and schools, all bomb-proof. As a Canadian, I was interested to find out that much of the work was done by Canadian hard rock miners, who were used to dealing with the machinery needed to bore these giant tunnels through hard rock such as the limestone of Gibraltar.

You'll even pass through an area of faulting - interesting from a geological point of view to see what a fault plane looks like up close. There is also a nice view over the Mediterranean sea from an observation balcony (but watch your head when you go through the tunnel to this viewpoint! It's probably the reason that they issue hardhats to you when you start the tour).

More could be done here, I think, in terms of displays of information, but even as it is, it is very interesting.

Really well put together museum. Small enough to see everything but big enough to have learned a thing or two. Great staff and some good exhibits.
We had been a few years ago and recently went back so didn't see much change but was still a good place to go for the history buff.
