The first design project for Antoni Gaudí, this was built as a summer home for the Vicens family 1883-1885. Tiles and mosaics are on the exterior, interior and the rooftop. Rooftop features a walkway around all 4 sides with decorative caps for the chimneys.

Came here on the same day as Miro Fondacion using the Articket BCN - for the price of 2 museums it gives access to 6 different art museums without having to queue or get a timed ticket, highly recommended! Because we had 2 museums on our list which were covered by the Articket this was basically a free visit, especially as we were using the funicular fir Miro anyway
We got our little passport stamped and the info desk clerk gave us a ticket as well, which she said would allow us to return the next day if we wanted. This is a massive museum in a really interesting old building. As it was our second museum of the day we only focused on our areas of interest, but you could easily spend a whole day here if you wanted. Because it focuses on art from Catalunya there were many artists we had never encountered before.
There are beautiful views over Barcelona from the steps in front, right down to the (currently inactive) Magic Fountain, and it's about a 20 minute stroll to the Funicular de Montjuic (which is included in your T-casual ticket

This place is amazing! A huge building with umpteen exhibits to suit all ages. The museum has a dinosaur section with some fantastic skeletons, a wildlife area recreating a rainforest with fish/birds/reptiles/mammals and flora. Other areas include the evolution of man, how the human brain and body works and tens of interactive displays from Newton's cradles to sound waves to how volcanoes form. We didn't go in the planetarium as didn't realise it was extra €6 each. The cafe was reasonably priced. The only negative was the half hour queue to pay and the walk up the steep hill to get there (there is a tram/bus though). We spent about 4 hours there and still didn't see it all.

Our main reason for choosing Barcelona, we had previously visited on a day trip and wanted to be able to take a bit more time.
Very interesting museum occupying 5 houses, we happened to visit on the last week of the series of exhibitions exploring the relationship between Picasso and Miro. The down side was lots of pieces had been leant to other museums (although the spaces were filled by Miro works) but on the plus side they had also borrowed pieces from other museums including Picasso and Pompidou in Paris which had been closed on our visit in September.
Entry is by timed slot, but if you have already bought the Articket BCN present this at the door and you will be whisked in to join the next slot.

    Fantastic tourist spot.
Enjoyed the full walk from the 2 stone pillars up to the 4 collums and then up 100 steps to the museum. Amazing views!
Cafe halfway up so we stopped for a drink and a sit down.
Turn right at the museum, left at the carpark and up the path, this will take you all the way through to the main road where the Olympic stadium is on the left. Go past the Olympic stadium down the main road and it takes you to the cable cars which go up to mountjuic Castle. Now that is a view! Wowser!
Only complaint. All fountains off due to draught. Such a shame as was looking forward to the magic fountain.

If you’re an Alien Fan then you definitely need to check out the Alien museum in Barcelona.

I went without having read any reviews or knowing much about the museum and I think going into it without knowing what to expect really added to the fun. This small museum has a really amazing collection of props, figures and statues. Luis really knows his stuff and gave a super knowledgeable and fun tour through the collection and the Alien films.

Make sure to email the museum in advance to book the tour, it lasts roughly 1 hour, it was really great thanks again Luis

This museum was not on our list of places to go and we stumbled across it. It ended up being our favorite place we visited in a week spent in Barcelona. The exhibits were fascinating and the Roman ruins were incredible. I beyond recommend you spend a few hours here.

Staff really friendly and helpful. €6 to get in. Bargain.
    Nice and warm.
Two levels when we visited. From prehistoric artefacts through eventually to modern times. Covered the history of the Catalan region as you'd expect but like some others who commented, did feel the effects of the brutal civil war were a little played down.
Finished by having a drink in the rooftop restaurant. Again, the staff were so friendly and made us feel very welcome. Drinks overlooking the yachts in the harbour. Delightful.
Displays had English explanations but the individual displays did not. Easy enough to follow what it was all about though.
Great staff. Lovely building. Well planned display. Great bar up top.

A Nice simulation at the start. A lot of themes. A Song of Ice and Fire, Sports, horror, art, music. And the throne of 1000 swords for Selfies. I like it a lot. Would go again next time in Barcelona

Amazing city! The old quarter has all the history and charm and the shopping district , further out, has all you need. We stayed just off la Ramblas but anywhere from Cataluniya square down puts you within walking distance, in the heart of it. The hop on hop off bus is a must and you can plan a good day around this as of course is the unique Familia Segrada and Park Guell if you are up for a lot of walking. To eat, step off Ramblas and search the side and back streets around the Cathedral much better and more authentic food. Be warned though, Barcelona is not cheap.

First, I was very critical of the Caixa Forum in Barcelona, but when we arrived it convinced me to be a super decision!
