Aleks has lived in the city for years, she walked us around the Gothic area and gave us loads of interesting facts and information about kinds of all things Catalan; history, culture, food, etc.
He and Miguel introduced us to an out-of-the-way tapas place for lunch and helped us choose the food.

Excellent wine bar with food, great atmosphere.
We visited here as a part of the Tapas, Taverns & History of Barcelona walking food tour with Devour Barcelona.

We all learned quite a bit and enjoyed the food we cooked thoroughly - again, a big clap for Canela Fina to get 12 guys to cook a delicious, traditionally catalan 4-course meal! 100& recommendable.
We visited Canela Fina with a family group of 20, ranging in age from 80 to 10. Everyone enjoyed learning about the food er were about to prepare, had fun making the tapas, and enjoyed eating them!

Lets face it, the entire Spanish culture is built around eating good food and drinking good wine, and Mercat Santa Caterina is simply a mecca of food and drink, without the crowds of La boqueria.
This is an excellent fresh food market, well worth finding, and it contains a number of good quality bars and eateries - well worth finding away from the crowds

We had great wines and food, learned a ton, and she even accommodated our dietary restrictions.
I would send my mom also, but she doesn't drink.

The tastings are in English and take a couple of hours; there's also great food (he makes his own Argentinian empanadas!) and you get to meet new friends.
Wines are matched by some delicious food too.

I especially enjoyed the food tips Sandro suggested, La Masala for coffee and dumplings (omg), Nomad Coffee (best coffee I’ve ever tasted), and Honey B (get the pistachio roll).
