There are two museums illustrating the life and events in Colditz from late 1939, through 1940 as the castle became an “international” POW camp until the liberation by the US army in April 1945.

Panometer Dresden Dresden
It cost E10 each even with a museum card but it was well worth it.The view from each vantage point - top of tower and various stops on the way up and the ground floor- caused constant surprise.
Has the feel of a museum but quite out of the ordinary and the panoramic painting was brilliant.

Zeitgeschichtliches Forum Leipzig
..well done to the city authorities for pumping money into museums such as this.
I went to Berlin's German History Museum prior to visiting this, and to me this feels like taking the German division history from the Berlin museum, and expand on the East German history.
Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (Dresden Art Galleries) Dresden
You could just take a cozy short or long walk the way the royal ladies did or if you have more time do dare yourself to experience the awe at the museums.
The Royal Porcelain Collection Dresden
I love porcelain and visited different museums with porcelain collections but this one by far is the best ever.
A stunning display of antique porcelain covering local, Chinese, Japanese and other pieces, this is a beautifully displayed jewel of a museum.
Museum in der Runden Ecke Leipzig
Saying that, we learn from the past and this museum (Itself a Stasi headquarters for 40 years) is an interesting and thought provoking display of history that I think is a must-see for everyone.

Military History Museum Dresden
However, I'm glad I changed my mind and joined him as it's a whole lot more than some military museums and monuments that often celebrate their victories and overlook the massive human costs of war.
One of the best museums I have visited!
Terra Mineralia Freiberg
In first place you can admire beautiful castle in which is the museum situated.
Deutsches Hygiene-Museum Dresden
If you are interested in science based museums.
I love this museum, it has an amazing posibility to get to know the human body more in detail, and really understand how it exactly works.

The first floor is a good, traditional, city museum - the history of Leipzig through the centuries, with a lot of good maps and paintings you can compare to the modern city.
