What travellers are saying
- Ian RSydney, Australia456 contributions‘Schloss’ seems to exaggerate the gravitas of Blutenburg. What stands today is more in the manner of a peaceful country estate than a fortress but it wasn’t always so. It may have been better at keeping people in than out, none more dangerous than Lola Montez.
Today the Schloss fulfils some role in children’s libraries that is, frankly, beyond me. Doesn’t matter, the moat remains, the chapel is a thing of beauty and you can wander through the courtyard at will. An interesting restaurant, Schlossschänke Blutenburg, operates at the side. The menu during my visit was duck and out of respect for the dozens of them in the moat, I went hungry.
The Schloss is a sunny-day must-do. You can safely cycle the 12k's there if you are that crazy. S2 train to Obermenzing, bus 143 stops right outside.Written 11 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Only a few rooms to see but still highly decorated and I found the tiling in kitchen area especially interesting.Written 29 July 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Phi SomchaiBangkok, Thailand3,795 contributionsThis is the old residence of the former Bavarian kings. It was destroyed during World War II but was rebuilt and they looked elegant.Written 9 May 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - StockholmKindaGuyMarietta, GA7,324 contributionsThe Pagodenburg is one of the many buildings on the grounds of the Nymphenburg complex you can visit. This small building was used as the royal tea house. While the exterior has an understated French look, the building's ornate interior borrows from Asia, giving it a more luxurious feel. Blue and white colors dominated the large entry floor of the Pagodenburg, while the smaller rooms of the upper floor are decorated in a variety of colors, each with ornate designs. Worth a look.Written 19 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
