What travellers are saying
- Patty Kanyaporn70 contributionsI really love the pastel-colored house where Monet lived and painted for over 40 years. Stepping inside, I find the rooms preserved much as they were during his lifetime, offering a glimpse into his daily life and artistic process. It just all so cute and warm with artisan touch.
Undoubtedly, the highlight of the visit is Monet's spectacular gardens. As you wander through the meticulously maintained paths, you'll be transported into the living canvas that inspired countless masterpieces. The vibrant flower beds, the wisteria-draped bridge, and the tranquil water lily pond come alive, replicating the scenes immortalized in Monet's paintings.
I would really enjoy sitting and painting here in his garden all day long, it was super serene with lots and lots of flowers :) The fragrance of blooming flowers, the gentle murmur of water, and the chirping of birds create a peaceful and restorative atmosphere.Written 1 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. This garden has the most plant varieties of any garden in Europe. If you are into plants this is a GEM of a permaculture jungle garden!!! Highly recommend.Written 3 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

I wasn’t bowled over as I thought I maybe but it was still lovely

- Carol TRouen, France156 contributionsSuch a lovely find. Huge park divided into many different regions e.g. rose garden, garden de France, fern garden, perenial border, animal park, children's playground etc. Beautifully maintained, well signposted within the garden, spotless toilets and it's free!
The Greenhouse next door is an excellent cafe/restaurant.Written 8 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. High density of flowers, well arranged on different levels of highth, colour arrangements well fitting together. Indeed a magic paradise!
Lots of beautiful trees and bushes along a little river leading to the famous ponds and bridges.Written 29 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Divided up into many sections separated by hedging and sheltered by mature trees. The plantings are themed in each section - the garden of the angels, the garden of the sun, etc - and the plants carefully labelled. Reconstructions of traditional buildings of the Pays d'Auge are set amongst the gardens giving the impression of a centuries-old setting, yet one discovers that 30 years ago this was merely a field. A very successful creation. Sadly the creperie was shut on the day of our visit - it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.Written 28 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jirina MNorthampton, UK19 contributionsBeautiful park, very well maintained with most animals in semi wild state. The house is stunning too. Staff lovely and the entrance fee reasonable. It's worth the visit and perfect for families. It took us couple of hours strolling to walk around the whole park.Written 7 August 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - B MGlasgow, UK63 contributionsThe first thing I'l say here is that I'm not entirely sure why they're called the Hanging Gardens. This is an old Naopleonic-style fort that has become a botanical garden, and is absolutely lovely, but nothing about it was "hanging".
It took us an hour to walk here from Le Harve cruise terminal. A lot of the walk was very steep, and took us up the wonderful steps built into the hill. It was absolutely worth the walk to go along the walls of the fort and enjoy the views over the sea.
As we visited on a weekday in February, none of the indoor spaces were open, but that didn't really bother us.
Well worth the visit.Written 9 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Beautiful flower beds, lovely colour combinations. We especially liked the handkerchief tree and the amazing vertical staircase. - tofrek1885Shrewsbury, UK161 contributionsVery well-kept and unusual garden, with "compounds" or designated areas dedicated to the memory of particular "local heroes" (artists, writers etc.) with their portrait busts. Nicely planted and obviously a favourite walking spot with locals and tourists - leads to the nice beach!Written 8 July 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - 907blakedTampa, FL1,449 contributionsThis garden was much larger than we expected. The left half is a true botanical garden, with lots of different specimens of plants, ranging from edibles to flowers, etc. In the middle there is a small playground with free toilets/bathrooms. To the right (up the hill) is a large wooded area with picnic tables and walking trails. We brought lunch here from a local boulangerie and really enjoyed ourselves.Written 11 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Jeff RRotherham, UK1,143 contributionsAbout an hour from where we were staying was this gem, was 27 euro each to get into the house and grounds although as it was Sunday house wasn’t open until 2 in the afternoon.
Good parking near to the entrance and stables nicely converted into a cafe on one side and a shop on the other side. The grounds are massive have loads of hidden treasures and would take you most of the day to go around them. The house which didn’t open until 2pm today is also full of treasures and told a great story of what life would have been like when it was in its hay day.
