- Dutch-MikeyLe Havre, France1,146 contributionsThe beach is of the beaten track so only people in the know are to be found here.
There are even 2 restaurants on the beach and several activities. It’s located next to a oil tanker harbor which can be interesting to see when these giants arrive.Written 17 August 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Madonna EBali, Indonesia18 contributionsEnjoyed the many different shapes of the trees and hedges. The geometrical patterns are very intriguing.
The admission price may be a little high, but realizing the amount of work it takes to maintain it is understandable.Written 3 June 2015This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Detours only add time to already tight timelime.
The beautiful sandy beach and especially the vegetation covered dunes were well worth it. Sand dunes were everywhere in the UK where we grew up, the are protected now by fencing and strategic vegetation apparently endangered due to erosion.Written 22 November 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Our visit coincided with rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias being in bloom, along with a wide variety of roses, making for a colourful and fragrant display.Written 24 May 2017This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GLearnAnnandale, VA27 contributionsMy daughter was married here at the Chateau de Flamanville last August (to a Frenchman). It is a large picturesque castle with a moat and beautiful grounds. As I was told, it is owned and managed by the city of Flamanville and the Mayor has to approve all activities that are held there. You have to have some connection to the city to be approved to use the Chateau for a private event. One section of the castle is open to the public while other areas are reserved for private events. The location is truly beautiful and almost story-book perfect for a special event like a wedding. We had a catered sit-down dinner and dance in the large banquet room which is also used for major musical and other cultural activities. I did attend a music concert ($20) here during the first week of August during their yearly musical festival. The grounds are lovely and a great place to take pictures, especially in the summer. The beach is not far away and there are many historical places to visit in the vicinity including war memorials, museums, and memorial cemeteries from WWII. The Chateau has a few bedrooms which come with renting the castle but we did not stay in them as they are very basic; I didn't see the rooms but my daughter said they were almost dorm-like rooms. We let the children attending the wedding use them when they needed to go to bed. This is not a place to "get a hotel room." It is more a place to visit and walk around to see the lovely architecture and grounds when you are visiting the Normandy Coast area around Flamanville. You could always ask if there is any event going on at the Chateau that is open to the public such as a concert or art exhibit. You may need to get a ticket for a music concert and they do sell-out, so plan ahead.Written 19 June 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - DalmikVilnius, Lithuania380 contributionsAlthough the whole coastline reminds the Allied invasion to Normandy in 1944, but sandy beaches allow to enjoy the sun and the sea. Port de Plaisance at the mouth of the river Le Suelles is also an interesting place for walks.Written 14 September 2016This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David SBury St. Edmunds, UK219 contributionsThe walking tour of the town is an excellent way to see the interesting places. Get the guide from the tourist office and enjoy the old buildings, riverside walks and peacefulness of the town.Written 19 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Guillaume AShizuoka, Japan547 contributionsNice little sea side viklage. The main attraction is the German bunker from world war 2 that handed on the beach from the cliff in an awkward position .Written 18 February 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
