Palace of Versailles
#1 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
The second most popular tour in Paris, very large crowds, the views are tremendous, the architecture is unique and large, the art is priceless, Louis XIV is always larger than every horse he seats on
Grea views at the Palace of Versailles, inside there are presentation about the history of the palace, you can view some beautiful portraits and miniature models of the palace, but the true gem of the palace lies...

The Hall of Mirrors
#4 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
The stunning decorations, statues, ceiling paintings and views from the windows give a mere glimpse of the glittering life of French Court in its hey day!
From being used for a masked ball by Marie Antoinette in 1770 to the site of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, this room has experienced history and retained its charm and beauty.

The Trianons & The Hamlet
#5 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
The grounds and gardens are wonderfully and more informally landscaped than the gardens of the Chateau, and offer hours of very pleasant walks and views.
Be sure to read about all the rooms and learn the story of Marie Antoinette - you will walk away with a different point of view of her.

Parc de Versailles
#6 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
This large area is a UNESCO World Heritage site and houses many monuments, including the Palace of Versailles, Petit Trianon, and Grand Trianon also the gardens themselves, the Grand Canal and numerous fountains.
The gardens, fountains (some were being readied for winter on our visit), and ponds offer some great views fit for a King!
La Galerie des Batailles
#7 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
This part of the palace in spectacular, a must to see when visiting the palace so you can immerse yourself into the history of the time and view the amazing pictures.
We had an opportunity to peacefully view approximately 30 paintings created especially for the Gallery between 1834 and 1845.
Grand Canal
#8 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
It is an amazing view with beautiful gardens, statues, and other historical buildings to keep you in awe.
Rented a boat for the first time after many visits and on a beautiful day like yesterday it is magical, with amazing views of the chateau...

Eglise Notre-Dame de Versailles
#9 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
This church is located maybe 400 metres outside of the palace of Versailles and if you come with a tour group with time restrictions, then this is a possibility to leave the palace grounds to view this really nice...

Le Petit Trianon
#10 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
A large quiet tranquil site.
From my point of view the most aesthetic of them.

The Royal Chapel
#11 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
The view of the chapel from the upstairs private balcony of the Royal Family (which used it to worship apart from common folk literally below them) was interesting as well.
Take comfortable shoes, a lot of walking and be aware of pick pockets on the site.

Le Grand Trianon
#12 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
Wonderful views of fountains and rose beds.
It is less opulent, almost sober compared to the palace and perhaps that is why the building and the rooms feel more homely (from a French Royal point of view).

Temple of Love
#15 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
The statue and temple are beautifully crafted, and very enjoyable to view.
I'll just enjoy the view.
The Water Parterres
#16 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
This fountain is just incredible, with downwind view of the canal, and upwind view of the Palace of Versailles.
Great view of the grand canal and the palace.

Cathedrale Saint Louis
#17 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
Standing outside the Palace grounds but is worth the short walk to view it.
Academy of Equestrian Arts
#18 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
Since Trip Advisor did not recognize this site, I had to sneak it in.

Jeu de Paume
#20 of 50 Sights & Landmarks in Versailles
It is always a moving moment to see the site of the first experiences of modern democracy.
The historic significance of this site for the downfall of the monarchy and founding of the National Assembly, can't be overstated.
