Great island, although the water was cloudy. The process of getting to the island is a bit rushed and overwhelming having to move from a boat to a catamaran a few times. Logistics could improve because, at the end of the excursion, the time we spent on the island was short. However, the stop we did a the natural pool worth it. Food was good, it should be hotter and to buy at the island are really expensive.

This was my first time on a party boat and I had a lot of fun but they had too many people on the boat to move comfortably. The boat had unlimited drinks/alcohol, a time for snorkeling and swimming and a slide. Everything else was fine but it was about 40-50 people on the boat at the same time trying to move, dance and swim.

The excursion was beautiful and amazing. It was raining the day of the tour, we took the catamaran and in our was it was raining but still we have fun and the staff provides with drinks and food, music and show which was super fun. We stop in a natural pool, we were there around 30 minutes and then we continue to the Saona Beach, which was beautiful. On the beach, they gave us food and drinks and the food was great. We stay in the beach the entire day and around 3:30 we start packing and the rain came back. we took the speedboat, it was raining hard, but we arrived save.

This tour was decent overall. Our guide Nector was tons of fun and pretty informative about the experience. We hit everything in the description: took a speed boat to the island, stopped in a “natural pool” which was a shallower part of the ocean, stayed on the island for about 2.5 hours, ate lunch, and came back on the catamaran which took another 1.5-2 hours.

    Pros:
    - the island was pretty beautiful. We got a ton of good pics and they have their own professional photographers to take and edit your pics. Their asking price is pretty high but definitely a lot of room to negotiate.
    - the natural pool was a fun stop. You arrive there on a speed boat so it is pretty quick to get there.
    - tons of optional things to buy on the island. Their pina colada was great!
    - catamaran was fun and they played fun music to dance to
    - free soda and well drinks for the whole day

    Cons:
    - It’s at least an hour drive from Punta Cana to Bayahibe, probably more from Bávaro. The van we went in was okay, but there were a lot of mosquitos in the car.
    - food was okay at best. If you are vegetarian, your options will be limited. Bring some snacks and eat a big breakfast before leaving your hotel.
    - the catamaran back does take a long time. If you are drinking and dancing, it’ll probably fly by, but I wasn’t since I was with family that isn’t too big on that lol.
    - I felt that they should have an option to stay on the island for another hour and take a speed boat back; we definitely wanted to spend a little more time on the beach.
    - the biggest con is that it just takes the whole day. We left at 8:45 and returned at 6:30 and were just so exhausted. Most of the day is just traveling (which is pretty common for any all-day tour)

If you are not staying at an all inclusive resort, this trip is a fun way to get some beach fun in a different setting. This trip is probably a lot more fun if your party enjoys drinking and dancing. That being said, a lot of the day is just traveling to and from the island, so if you want to spend more time on the island, maybe book a private tour. And if you are at an all-inclusive resort, this tour is probably not worth leaving your resort for a whole day lol.

Our tour guide Alex was very kind and knowledgeable about the area. An hour ride by bus to the pick up spot by boat was well informed with the history of DR. We appreciated how far DR as a country has come through after its spanish colonization. It was great to know about the back history of the resorts and how this has boomed the economy and DR is in much better place than its neighboring country, Haiti. Besides informing us, Alex made sure we were safe and stayed in our group when we boarded and embarked small and big boats, everything went seamlessly. We enjoyed the lunch and the drinks provided during the tour. Option of having pictures taken by Big Paapi snd Henry was great. Alex also warned us about not to eat or drink non certified items sold by the peddlers and to graceful refuse to the sellers. Over all a fun day at the island. Loved the scenery, crystal clear water, smooth sand and lovely weather.
Our bus driver Barry was nice and made sure we all were back in the bus before we departed.

This is perfect if you want to avoid the party / crowd atmosphere of the larger boats. We did a 6 person (family) private tour. There is a private car that picked us up from the hotel and transported us to the dock. It was busy there but our driver took us directly to our boat / guide. The boat got us quickly to each spot, usually ahead of the big crowds. Natural swimming hole, Blue Lagoon, snorkeling, Saona island, Lunch spot (private table, great food), back to the Blue Lagoon deeper out to see the star fish. They do take photos, which was a little exhausting, and sell them to you at the end. We bought for around $150. They are excellent and close to 300 photos. Tip the guide at the end and the boat driver / drink boy. Then private car back to the resort. Morning pickup was at 8:30 am and we were back at the resort by 5:00 pm.

We were debating on doing an excursion while in the Dominican and we are so glad we did! Our resort was in Uvero Alto which ended up being much further away then we realized for most excursions, but decided the travel time was worth the experience. And it certainly was! This excursion ended up being the very best part of our whole trip! Nelly was truly exceptional— she was kind, passionate about her work, made us feel so comfortable, and her love/care for local wildlife was something we deeply appreciated about her. She reached out to us directly to confirm the reservation/coordinate and personally handled our transportation from beginning to end, even booking our ride to the airport for us when it came time to head home.
We chose to do a full day tour at Saona Island, which was better than we could have imagined. The weather was incredible, and the water was unlike anything we had ever seen on the Atlantic side of the DR. Crystal clear, aqua blue, the sight alone was worth the entire trip. Nelly helped us navigate the crowds, pointed us to the best spots, and introduced us to an exemplary crew (Captain Gringos). Everything was well organized, and the tour was fun and interactive. An unforgettable day. One we already can’t wait to experience again in the future. Highly recommend. Book the trip. Take the excursion. Bring your friends. Tell everyone about it!! Absolutely worth every penny/peso!

the party boat was amazing experience, the drinks were immaculate and the host were soo fun & enthusiastic. There’s a guy on the boat taking pictures & they didn’t even overcharge for them. I wish they had more diverse music but other than that it was an amazing time.

If you've never been to a sandy Caribbean island before, perhaps, you'll enjoy the trip. However, if you've seen sandy beaches in the Caribbean before, the trip will be a total disappointment. The most exciting part of the trip was the crew that serviced the trip. Otherwise, Saona island itself is boring, overcrowded, and overrated--not beautiful at all, and the water has nothing to do with the crystal clear water you see on the pictures. BTW, expect to spend about 2 hours tops on the island; the rest of the time is travel time. I wouldn't recommend the trip--you'll be better off spending the day in your all-inclusive resort.

This was one of the best tours we have been on in a long time! Our guide (I unfortunately do not remember his name) was awesome. You leave the beach driving your SeaDoo motor boat (it sits three) as fast as the boat will go. The feeling of the boat underneath you while going fast and jumping the waves was awesome! We got to the first spot and anchored. He then gave us snorkeling equipment and jumped in with us. It was beautiful. The water was crystal clear and so many beautiful fish. I should note that I do not like the ocean or snorkeling and it was amazing! We felt very safe the whole time and our guide dove and found coral and a sea urchin for us to look at a touch. We also never felt rushed, we stayed for about 30-40 minutes. Next stop was the “party cove” with a floating bar and a guy on a paddle board, making pina coladas in a pineapple. So cool! The final stop was a private beach where we got out and swam again and sat on the beach for a little while. We then drove back to where we started. Our guide even got my “chicken” wife to drive the boat and she loved it! The whole experience was about 3.5 hours. It was never rushed and our guide participated with us, never making us feel like we had to go. Between racing across the water on the boat, the snorkeling and the beach/swimming this was well worth everything we paid for it. Also, there is transportation included from your hotel to the boat and back. We were staying at the Palma Real and actually walked the mile back on the beach to the hotel. 5 stars!
