- Robin KWashington DC, District of Columbia14 contributionsThis was one of our cruise port stops so we had limited time. We rented golf carts from Bonaire Cruisers - excellent service and a fair price. We only had enough time to take the south loop on the island but the scenery was absolutely breathtaking! It was VERY windy so make sure your hat is secured. There were plenty of places where you could stop and get into the water if you'd like to take a swim or go snorkeling. There were areas for kite-surfing, wind surfing, etc. I could see it would be a destination for people who love water sports. Really no bathrooms or places to stop until we got to the far side of the island. Then we found a great stop over by Lac Bay - Sorobon Resort. They had a nice waterfront bar and restaurant as well as bathrooms. Everyone was stopping there though. We arrived there around 10:30 in the morning when they opened. By the time we left it was packed. I'm looking forward to going back to see the north loop but I might opt for renting an SUV just so we can get around faster and we have plenty of time for stops.Written 14 April 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - BoleslavColorado1,878 contributionsLac Bay is one, yet there is Lac Bay for the windsurfers and there is Lac Bay for snorkelers.
The snorkelers have to walk for a bit to get to the deeper part, but if you catch the right conditions, the current is not that strong, you will be rewarded by the best underwater life.
We went there 3 times and the conditions were not favorable on the last trip, the current was very strong, we ended up fighting it instead of enjoying the corral and the fish,
However on the second trip there, we kept swimming and exploring the healthy and beautiful corrals with large variety of fish, all very near the surface, one feels like swimming in the aquarium.
It was our favorite place in all of Bonaire for the snorkeling.Written 21 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. We were able to secure a table with a view of the water immediately upon arrival.
Our wait staff were very attentive and friendly and we were pleased to have ice cold margaritas in our hands within a few minutes. Since we were only stopping in for a brief snack, we shared the sampler platter (love the bitterbollen) and some loaded fries (we are a family of four).
It was lots of fun to watch the talented windsurfers work their magic in the beautiful blue waters along Sorobon beach. We would love to come back for their Thursday night BBQ.
Not sure what this place would be like when a cruise is in port ..we have heard that the beach gets very busy on those days. We elected to head to this part of the island specifically on a day with no cruise.Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Brandaris is not that tall mountain, it is best to start early, as soon as the part opens as the less heat can make the hike more pleasant and it is less crowded.
First part of the hike follows a wide easy path lined with cacti and trees. Second part is a narrow steeper trail, with climbing over boulders to the top, where one needs to take care while climbing the rocks.
On the top you are rewarded by views over Boca Slaagbai and Gotomeer on one side and the hills of the national park.
It is varied and interesting hike well worth the effort.Written 21 July 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Horses were happy and healthy and well suited to our experience level. Scenery was beautiful and it was safe and fun. Highly recommend.Written 5 January 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Corné v1 contributionComing to Bonaire we always rent at smiley rentals knowing that good scooters will be delivered (on time) at our doorstep. Thanks Raquel & Johnny for an excellent experience again. Both the scooters and customer service were outstanding during our stay from Jan 21-Jan 29. You are real ambassadors for Bonaire. They are knowledgeable, very welcoming, well equipped and safety and conservation minded. Not only did we snorkel in beautiful waters with lots of fantastic fish, coral and sponges, they educated us about the local environment and preservation projects. The food and beverages were top notch and very plentiful. I highly recommend this company.Written 29 January 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Jari G1 contributionThe day began with an introduction of the crew and some ground rules for on board. The crew were all very nice and really kind. They made the day a lovely experience! We had three snorkling stops in which the group was split in two smaller groups. Each group had its own snorkling instructor, who watched over the well being of each individual and he/she explained what we saw in the water. Every fish, coral, turtle and bit of reef we encountered was explained which was really interesting! On board the crew took care off us by providing drinks, snacks and a really tasty lunch! What made the trip so special was the people and the service! We got picked up by our hotel, all snorking gear was on board and was cleaned and prepared for the perfect snorkling experience. Think about different snorkels, fins, wetsuits, special sunprotection lotion and some options to help with floating. It was all really well organised and we had a incredible time! Definitely would recommend!!Written 17 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- Freya G2 contributionsIt was my first time diving, so I did a dsd at dive friends. It was an amazing experience! and I enjoyed it very much. At first I had some trouble breathing but the my sweet instructor Davide worked his magic and I did my first dive without any problems. You felt safe diving and he was good at spotting cool stuff in the water.
I can really recommend Dive Friends, they are always cheerful and friendly to be around. I came across Mona a great dive master, Camilla, Elizabeth, Diane, Brett and Eddy at my stay with them….all some lovely people and good divers
So choose this plays if you want a good diving experience both in and out of the waterWritten 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. I was thinking of taking the Dive Master course but none of the shops really stood out, until I went to VIP Diving. The building is open and very welcoming, the staff are responsive, engaging, and very knowledgeable! After meeting with Maarten a few times I signed up for the DM course without hesitation. He was an excellent teacher and a wealth of knowledge, overall it was an awesome learning experience. My 2 classmates had the same opinion and turned to be great dive buddies for rest of our stay.
If you’re in Bonaire for 1 day, 1 week, or longer you’ll get the best value for “all of your diving needs”.

- KMac322Atlanta, GA103 contributionsThis was by far our favorite cruise excursion - the Mushi Mushi Catamaran and Snorkeling. The crew was amazing - they did such a great job with safety, snorkeling instructions, etc. they were also very kind and took the time to chat with all the guests and made sure we all had enough water and then adult beverages (only after the snorkeling). The boat was also very nice and comfortable.
The snorkeling was out of this world - the water so clear and since we were the first boat of the morning, our group had the reef all to ourselves which allowed us to marvel at all the fish and coral without worrying about swimming into other people. There was a member of the crew in the water with us making sure everyone was OK.
And the rum punch on the sail back… since it was only 9:30am, I was going to pass, but yada yada yada….2 glasses later…it was a very relaxing sail back to the ship! Highly recommend and so glad our cruise offered this as an excursion.Written 3 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Hans, owner/tour guide of roadrunner picked us up at the cruise port. A 5 minute ride to his home and brief driving lesson for the ryker 3 wheel motorcycle and away we went. We made several stops including sea salt manufacturing, cactus distillery, beach/reefs, and flamingo watching. Hans was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Bonaire. He even shared some of his background and made the trip so very interesting and educational. Please book directly with him as you will not regret it!!Written 14 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Shannon FSyracuse, NY9 contributionsWe did this excursion when we stopped in Bonaire on a cruise. It was excellent! It seemed a little intimidating at first, but once we got the hang of it, so very fun. Transportation to and from the spot was top notch and our tour driver even gave us a little history along the drive. Would definitely recommend this for families looking to try something a little different, who are not afraid of a little adventure.Written 18 March 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
