The museum is good for about an hour in the middle of a hot day in Bonaire. You will get a sense of the early years of the island and of course colonialism and slavery.

This small, free, museum (there is a donation box) is worth half an hour of anyone's time.
A few bits of local history are of interest.
The addition of a, post COVID, kringloopwinkel (charity shop is the best translation for UK visitors) shows the societal importance of culture.

Some beautiful art in several different formats. Prints are reasonably priced so we picked up three. There are also originals for sale, but we did not inquire as to the price. The art portrays many different aspects of Bonaire, from the colorful waterfront to abstract images of sailboats, from local wildlife to beautiful coral reefs. This is the perfect place to find mementos of Bonaire and to support a local artist at the same time. Check it out!

I participated in a workshop making ornaments.
    It was so much fun!
It was a small group and there was pizza and drinks waiting for us when we got there.
They explained how everything works and had a demonstration.
And then we got to go wild. I ended up making 5 ornaments. (See pictures below)
Because it takes so long to be in the oven we could pick everything up by the end of the week.
I can’t wait until there’s another workshop. I already have some friends that want to come along.

Sea and Discover is a program run by Caren Ekrich on Bonaire. She teaches young and old alike. She offers classes, guided snorkel trip and dives. She is a marine biologist, extremely nice and very intelligent.

We put our 10 year old son in her program for kids which ran every morning from 9-12. He class included marine biology topics followed by a guided snorkel designed to teach fish ID, marine habitat, fish behavior, or whatever that day's topic was. Not only did my son learn a GREAT DEAL, he had a ton of fun and adored "Miss Caren". Having our son in the program also allowed us to dive.

Caren is a true Bonaire treasure. Not to be missed. Our son can't wait to go back.

Unique and beuatiful art, professionally made with lost of found and recycled products. Very welcoming people at a relaxing location. Great for souvenir shopping. All one of a kind and handmade, therefore a bit on the pricey side.
