First visit this spring onion farm and their Sanxing onions are in extremely large, tasty and full of fragrance.
We had the opportunity to learn how to make the spring onion pancakes.
The people there are super friendly so we enjoyed our learning experience very much, and are our own pancakes.

Nice experience especially for us city dwellers who have never seen a spring onion farm before.

Did not try the harvesting and DIY spring onion as they were hosting some school children and the place was getting crowded.

The freshly fried spring onion pancake was nice.

The memorial museum is located right at the birth house of Mr. Ding Nan Chen.
Mr. Chen is a respectable statesman; he was mayor of Yilan County between 1981-89 and he worked as the minister of Justice of Taiwan between 2000 and 2005. Mr. Chen was famous for his disinterest and being honest and upright. He set up good role model for politicians.
In this memorial museum, tourists can go through Mr. Chen's whole life by reading and appreciating the exhibitions. Site interpretation is also available; tourists want to have a guided tour have to contact volunteers at the reception counter.
There is a small cafe located just by the museum, which offers beverage and snacks at very reasonable prices. (NTD 30 for a cup of Americano; NTD30 for a thick slice of toast with a variety of spread flavors.)
Since the memorial museum is free for the public, tourists are welcome to make a small donation (there is a small donation box placed inside the museum; tourists can put in coins or small bills at will.) Alternatively, tourists can visit the cafe and have some drinks, which is another way to make this memorial museum survive.

My friend and I have been coming here to years in a row. It's great to see the marvelous ShanXing scallion -- they can grow as tall as an adult! There are also snacks and souvenirs to purchase. It's a great place to get some gifts home for family and friends.

So glad to have made the decision to visit this farm which is highly recommended by my friends. I am always reluctant to visit farms in fear of unpleasant smell and poops on the ground. But this farm is very well kept and staff are constantly around to sweep up any poop from the animals. I can let my kid walk around freely with worry. My kid refused to leave as he had so much fun touching the animals and feeding them. It was drizzling when we were there but the experience was still wonderful. The tickets come with little snacks which you can choose from. We had onion pancake, donut and red bean pancake. All are great.

This place is not just for kids as my mum and teenage niece had fun too. Highly recommend to anyone visiting this area. It is about 45min drive from Jiaoxi but I would say the journey is worth it.

There were several flower fields along roadside which are easily located. Although the weather is not good, we enjoyed so much to take photos at roadside and in the field. The yellow flowers are attractive. The mountain scene behind was also beautiful. Most importantly, it is totally free! It is worth to visit there if you drive.

This is an interesting hidden corner that makes for a fun afternoon!
The lake and the little pathways around it are beautiful and there are some caged animals and food stands in the area.
Don't miss the scallion pancakes or feeding the fish!
And take a second to enjoy the great view of the mountains.

A lovely tinny station for wood transportation. Rebuild recently after being abandoned for 3 decades. It's a part of lumbering history in Taiwan.

I chose to stay at Micasa minsu in Sanxing because there is an easy access to the River Annong just outside the minsu. However it rained during our visit so I could only do morning walk and not cycle as I intended. There are trees in autumn colours along the path. One can even play golf on the field beside the River. Would be great to cycle along the path along the River.
