Early season in Antigua but we were lucky enough to have our own private beach!!! Have been here before on past visits to the island but stopped off here with some first time visitors. Great for a stroll along to OJs and back and for looking over at Montserrat.
All helped by a few beers from the beach bar.

My family and I traveled to Jolly Beach resort Feb 2024, my parents have been about 9 times but hadn't been back in 8 years. It was such a pleasure to see their favorite place with them. Some of the resort bldgs are closed for renovation, we were told they would be back open by June 2024. My mom said they have improved the Long Bar area and the patio area where you would dine and also the restaurant buffet area. The beds were comfortable she said those were upgraded from last time. The staff were amazing mostly, front desk ladies were not always helpful or happy but for the most part the other staff were smiling and friendly all the time. The food was good, it is NOT five star so don't expect that when you come that's not what you paid for. It was very tasty and we loved the omelet station and there was always healthy options. There were two nights with steel drum bands, and two other nights with music and they had a Super Bowl party at the long bar on a big screen. I hope that they continue to improve upon things and we cannot wait to go back. It was the most relaxed I have been in years. Great value for the money and the beach is amazing!! We had rain though which was disappointing I think next time I won't go in Feb.

Have just come back from my 2nd visit to Carlisle Bay, Antigua. The main reason for going back was to have tennis lessons with Ken (Kenneth Gonsalves-Barriero). Warmly welcomed and even remembered after 6 years I had morning lessons that in my opinion are the best lessons I have ever had. (I have 4 hours of lessons a week back in UK so have a lot of experience with coaches.) Ken is a genius at spotting what you need to work on and in 2 weeks he vastly improved my weaknesses. Ken is not only a brilliant, talented and experienced coach but also got a wicked sense of humour that made me laugh throughout the 2 weeks. Carlisle Bay is wonderful and the biggest asset is Ken. Can't wait to go back asap for more work on my backhand. A big Thank You Ken and hope to see you soon. Annika

Given a holiday to commemorate the burial of our former Prime Minister, we decided to navigate the trail to Signal Hill. Being the oldest group member, I needed occasional help. However it was such a thrill to finally reach the top. The view was breathtaking. The air quality was superb.

We booked our island tour via email ahead of arrival in St. Johns. Brenda was on time, already waiting at the boardwalk with a sign with our name. Tour was very informative. A circle around Antigua brought us to Betty's Hope, Devils's Bridge, Shirley Heights, Nelson's Dockyard and more. On the way back we stopped at a few beautiful beaches for a photo stop. If you want to make a tour in a new, clean van with an amazing guide, we can recommend BC Taxi and Tours.

Brilliant experience from start to finish. Our instructors (Ettore & Giordana) were fantastic. Once they explained something they let you give it a go, and as long as you weren't going to harm yourself, others, or the boat, they'd let you (try) to complete the task without interruption. Afterwards they'd say "what did you forget?" (or similar) -- a very low stress/coaching-style approach that was well received by all of us.

We had an incredible adventure thanks to a crossing to Guadeloupe, being denied entry on our water to Antigua, followed a return crossing to Guadeloupe, and back again on another boat.

Communication etc with Second Star was second to none. I'd highly recommend them to anyone considering a sailing course or experience in Antigua.

We chartered one week in january 2023 - an Astrea 42; the moment we arrived I noticed that was missing (and supposed to be equipped with) watermaker and front sun cushions ; it was quite disappointing. For these flops I would rate It three stars; I upgraded to four because the skipper was exceptional.
I have chartered with two other sailing companys and they all look the same, the boat is always substandard. A little more care to details would make a big difference.

I didn't stay here but walked down the beach to check it out intrigued by the tents. Its top notch glamping. Instead the tents was a beautiful bed, night stands, dresser and lamps. Each tent has a private outdoor shower with a beautiful sink surrounded by tropical plants. I was told you are served breakfast every morning and can order prepared dinners to cook over your own private bon fire. I loved the beautiful hand carved lounge chairs. This is a public beach so you probably want to avoid cruise ship days.
