The best ski resort especially for beginners and intermediate skills. Fast chairlift allowing us to make maximum number of runs.
March was the best month as there was less people. There are 2 sub resorts, i.e. Imori and Escal. The later has more options and larger.

My teenage son and I had an awesome holiday at Happoone and would recommend the area to anyone keen on great snow and wonderful people and culture. All the facilities are A grade and the people so friendly and helpful. Heaps of long runs and awesome views

First time here after only visiting Niseko. If you are looking for very challenging slopes, then Happo One is the best in Japan. It feels very special skiing down the Downhill slope from top and you shall stop a higher mid right side and only remember Hermann Maier crash in 1998. You can see that everybody on all slopes ski very well and this is no room for any beginners at all. You feel like in the Alps with similar vegetation and stunning Mountain views. The downside is the chairlift and gondolas are 40+ year old and there has been 0 investment in the facilities. Ski lift prices 20% cheaper vs Niseko.
    Indeed will be back!

Hakuba is an amazing place! This little village popular for its ski resorts is just 1.5 hours away from Tokyo with the Shinkansen and about 2 hours by car from Nagano station. It offers many ski resorts within short distance of each other. However, we especially like skiing at Hakuba 47 as it offers various long terrains for different level of skiers. This quaint little town is also home to a number of great restaurants that offers both local and international cuisines.

My partner and I were reluctant to hike for hours up the mountain but decided to remove heavy stuff in our bags and go ahead. It was a cloudy day so when we were on top, we couldn't see reflection of the mountain peaks in the background. But it was good enough as the hike was not that hard.

Really enjoyed Hakuba47 as a ski resort to learn in. At the time we went in March there was more snow here than on the other resorts. Good lift access to quite a variety of runs.

The Hakuba47 Ski Academy (office at the entrance) is fantastic for skiers and snowboarders wanting to learn or improve your skills.

Definitely a nice spot to see what the athletes endure during that thrilling sport. The height is IMPRESSIVE.
Also from the top you can enjoy beautiful scenery.
In the tower, there's many memoribilia from the Nagano Olympics. Definitely worth stopping by.

A round trip ticket from Gondola Adam is Y2900. There's an english map at the gondola entrance. Good trip for families. It takes 1-1.5 hours to reach the lake. The furthest chair lift quits running at 1630 so the latest you should start this hike is 1330.

Jane stands out as the most exceptional ski instructor we've had the pleasure of working with! Her warmth and patience with our 4-year-old have been truly remarkable. Jane's professional guidance has significantly enhanced our child's skiing skills, boosting both confidence and enthusiasm. Remarkably, Jane is fluent in Mandarin, English, and Cantonese, adding an extra layer of communication ease. Without hesitation, we highly recommend Jane to anyone seeking a top-notch ski teaching expert.
