Last week, I visited Eastwood Whelpton with my team and it was brilliant from start to finish! I'd never sailed before, so was a complete novice, but was immediately put at ease by our fabulous instructor, Molly. The whole day was so much fun, especially getting to compete against our colleagues in the Barton Charter Regatta! Oh, and the views on the water were incredible. I highly recommend giving the wonderful team at East Whelpton a visit.

From the moment you arrive you are welcomed with open arms. The yachts are well looked after and the handover is second to none. The yacht handles really well and we made a good 6 knt's 😎. Eastwood Whelpton is for all, from a complete novice to an experienced sailor they have everything you could need. We come here so I could teach my wife to sail and she loves it. So if you are looking for a boating holiday or training you will not go wrong booking it with Eastwood Whelpton. We will be back next year

As a group of 10 sailors from a Hertfordshire sailing club, we have just spent our fourth annual Broads holiday weekend with Eastwood Whelpton boats. As usual we had lots of fun with the three gaffers we hired, including a friendly race on Barton Broad on the Monday morning. EW, as ever, were helpful; the boats ready for us on the Saturday, clean and in good condition, and the staff stayed to see us back on Monday evening.

A big thank you to all the staff. We enjoyed a day trip on the Moorhen for our mums special birthday. The staff were helpful from the booking process to the actual day. They could not do enough to make sure we had a fantastic day. They catered for mum’s dietary needs with afternoon tea as well as having an amazing skipper on the day to make the trip very memorable. Thank you Frosty. Will be recommending your service in the future.

The team at Eastwood Whelpton are fantastic. A well equipped sailing boat, Tornado, and thanks to Annie lending us warmer sailing clothes, and an extra duvet, a well equipped crew! We had to call the boatyard out due to pondweed round the propeller. Within a couple of hours Andy arrived, put a smile back on our faces and assured us no major damage was done.( Beware Hoveton Little Broad is weedy!) Thanks to Jacobs thorough hand over we had no problems lowering the mast at bridges and despite the thick cloud and northly wind, we loved exploring the waterways. According to our 12yr old its way better than staying at home getting bored!
Hire a boat from this professional/knowledgeable team of people who are keen to pass on their love of the Broads and the joy of sailing, its great fun.

We travelled 18,000 kms for another holiday with Eastwood-Whelpton straight off the plane from New Zealand. As we'd caught covid on the last trip, we used a week sailing to ensure we were fit to meet our extended UK family. An easy thing to justify especially when a sail on Breydon was in the offing and when the birdlife was fully into making nests. Sailing on the Broads is an experience shared in our family for four generations now and this time we hired Lutra with two on board. In a windy week we got to Beccles and Norwich with some memorable sailing including two laps of Breydon on a reach with literally nobody about. How often does that happen? One day we had the 3rd reef in and broke out the storm jib which was an easy switch on this well set up and finely balanced boat. Lutra's heater was also very welcome at the start and end of each day. Huge thanks to Annie and Andy and the EW team for the boat prep., dealing with our food order, and pick ups and drop offs at the station. I can't recommend EW highly enough, and we'll be back for another holiday just as soon as the opportunity presents.

The boats are well maintained and cared for. Well fitted out with all you need for the holiday. All the staff work hard to deliver a good service and can’t do enough to help. A real pleasure to do business with!
A great selection of yachts, great location and a first class team who are very friendly and helpful. If you are of limited sailing experience like us, don't be put off. All the help and advice you need is supplied. In our case we arranged a half day session with David Frost (aka Frosty ) who came with us to our first stop reminding us how to sail and going through the specific features of Tornado. Could have been a bit stressful in a narrow river but he was so calm, knowledgeable and friendly it was a brilliant experience.

I had never sailed before the holiday, but now I really know my way around the boat and the key sailing terms. My whole family got the level 2 sailing certificate, which means we can take a boat out on our own with no instructor. I really enjoyed the sailing and the instructors were all really nice. The five of us were split between two boats and each had an instructor. We did some racing at the end of the week and because there were not many people in the boat, nobody got bored, and everyone had something to do. By day 2 we were sailing without the instructor doing much but give instructions and demonstrate a few manouvers. Everybody enjoyed it, and we are keen to do more sailing in the future.

Suzy’s team at Eastwood Whelpton boatyard are just the best on the Broads. This long established yard offers beautifully kept sailing yachts of all sizes and a fantastically welcoming and joyful approach to getting you sailing safely. If you haven’t sailed before, don’t be put off, as you’ll get an instructional session before taking over your boat. Sailing is SO much better than those plastic motor tubs you could choose elsewhere, and the perfect, low risk way to introduce children to a powerful experience that few get to have these days. Nothing compares to the magical moment when you kill the engine and move solely under sail power, with only the trickling sounds of the water beneath your keel. We’ve just returned from my tenth holiday with Eastwood Whelpton and it was our best yet, with two families, two boats, and six children (aged two to fifteen). With life jackets on, all of them were constantly jumping in and swimming at every opportunity and having the time of their lives. Eastwood Whelpton is also perfectly placed at the mid-point on The Broads to explore in any direction and cover as much of the water network as you like. If you still have a pulse and you want to inspire your children with skills and memories to last them a lifetime, we can’t recommend this holiday and the good people of this boatyard enough!

I cannot say enough nice things about Eastwood Whelpton, they are a truly first-class sailing company. Myself and three friends had a day sailing trip onboard Tornado, skippered by Andy. The procedure prior to boarding was very simple and no fuss at all, drinks being provided free of charge (I won a competition for a free day sail). We set off under engine power and cruised along through Acle and along the Bure towards Breydon, turning round at Ashtree Drainage Mill. We were then treated to an outstanding lunch, provided by Eastwood Whelpton - when we were told lunch was provided, the most we had expected was an M and S meal deal, so you can imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered a cheese board and a bottle of Canti had been laid on for us, amongst other delicious foods ;)
Coming back under sail, we slipped back along past Stracey Arms, and experienced fighting the flood tide as we tried to go through Stokesby. Andy's tutoring of the basics of sailing were first class, and after a few tries we were tacking back and forth with no problem. I will add that of the four of us, two had never sailed before and of the two that had, it had been six years for one and eleven years for the other, so the discovery of how simple sailing is once the basics were gotten down was a real eye-opener. We ended our voyage after six hours on the water, and I can safely say I will 100% be returning in future, thank you Andy and all at Eastwood for a wonderful day out on the Broads :)
