To be honest little of the castle remains, but the quaint, little hilltop town of Castelmola makes for a very pleasant half day trip from Taormina. For about the cost of parking fees take the public bus from the Taormina bus station and save yourself...More

If you are in Castelmola you may as well climb up the steps to see the ruins or whats left of the old castle. Nice job of preserving what is left of a few walls, lovely views to take a few pictues.

We were out of season so we drove right up, parked for a few euros and spend 2 hours walking the town right up to the top of the castle which was free to visit. The views of Etna from the town are superb. A...More

Worth the trip just to see the views. It offers a beautiful panorama of the area, Teormina and Mt. Etna.

We didn't go as far the actual castle which you can see perched on the next hilltop but it was a great side trip from Taormina. We took the Interbus up the hill. It is a pretty and very touristy village. We then walked down...More

We went up on the bus (1.90€ each for a single) and walked back down to Taormina. This took 40 minutes, mostly on a paved path which amazingly had cars dotted along it next to many houses. Path starts at the piazza where the bus...More

Mount Etna had been covered in cloud all week, so on the day we got up early to drive to Castelmola we were rewarded with a wonderful view. Larger than it appears, it’s worth an hour of your time and a coffee and the best...More

You can drive up to Castelmola and there is plenty of parking. However if you go in the busy season, you have to go early before 9.30am because the parking will be full.
