We went up on the bus (1.90€ each for a single) and walked back down to Taormina. This took 40 minutes, mostly on a paved path which amazingly had cars dotted along it next to many houses. Path starts at the piazza where the bus...More

Mount Etna had been covered in cloud all week, so on the day we got up early to drive to Castelmola we were rewarded with a wonderful view. Larger than it appears, it’s worth an hour of your time and a coffee and the best...More

If you want a change from the beach, this is a village to visit. The view from there is great including on the Etna.

Worth a visit but not a huge castle, more of a ruin that provides good views of Etna. Go for the views and then visit the small cafe ... ‘Pier de Cat’

We drove up to this castle. Thankfully we had a small car because the roads are steep, narrow and winding. We stopped at the first car park near the castle (clearly signposted and 1euro per hour of stay). It was a 5 minute walk up...More

You can walk up to the hilltop village of Castelmola- that was one of our options but we took the bus instead. Just over €3 per person return - well worth it! Stunning views down to Taormina, the Saracen's Castle and the Sanctuario Madonna della...More

Visited here with my wife whilst holidaying in Taormina. Easily reachable by bus from the town, Castelmola is a must see whilst you’re here. The views down over Taormina to the sea, and all along the Sicilian coast and up to Etna are unreal.

You can drive up to Castelmola and there is plenty of parking. However if you go in the busy season, you have to go early before 9.30am because the parking will be full.
