Isola bella is certainly a must see when visiting Stresa as it's really beautiful and just a quick, enjoyable boat ride away. The island is very small - besides the palace and gardens there not much else (a few market stalls for food and clothing)....More

Outstanding villa with all sorts of treasures inside plus interesting and spectacular architecture/construction. Very extensive art collection and very interesting family history. The tour is expenisive for Lago Maggoire but the palace is well taken care of and shows its history well. It also fun to travel to the Island in a smaller boat and there are many.

The palace is over-the-top extravagant with some cool historical references. We visited the room there where Mussolini met with English and French leaders in the 1930s to talk about Hitler's aggression, and we enjoyed the collection of marionettes that used to entertain the Borromeo kids,...More

If you only visit one island on the lake, make it Isola Bella. The palace and gardens are stunning and more impressive compared to the palazzo on Isola Madre. Steeped in history (Napoleon was a visitor) and art.

Beautiful gardens on the Borremean Island, Isola Bella, in Lake Maggiore. Certainly a worthwhile venture into a centuries old castle and its gardens. I recommend this excursion.

Palazzo Borromeo on Isola Bella is a beautiful building with a garden to match , the Palazzo was much larger and grander than expected. We visited early morning before it was to busy. The white peacocks were unusual.
