There was no guide
Sep 2019
The road to Wadi bin Hammad is quite winding and steep, but since there aren’t too many cars, it is certainly possible to drive on your own. It is a fun and easy walk through warm water to the waterfall. It is unfortunate that to go further you need a guide who puts the ladder by the waterfall for 20 JD. It took us about 1.5 hours, but we really wanted to go further, but the guide was not there...

After a drive down the narrow mountain roads, all of a sudden the entrance of the canyon appears. You can get a guide to accompany you. The hike takes you through a shallow river, although at some points we were up to our thighs in the water. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet and have a good profile, as it can be slippery. Also, a proeftive cover for your backpack/camera will be useful. You walk through waterfalls, luscious vegetation and beautiful rock formations. Halfway we were served some tea, made on a small fire. It was an amazing experience!

A glimpse in paradise
Aug 2019 • Family
What an astonishing visit it was. After a tough ride trough the middle of nowhere down along steep cliffs and one track sandy roads we reached a shed “visitor centre”. In addition to the 5 JD entrance fee we had to pay another 20 JD for a guide. When walking through a small hand warm river the cliffs became higher, smaller and more beautiful on every corner we took. On our way back the guide offered a tea-break. Apparently close to the visitor centre there is the hot spring feeding this stream. Because of a busy schedule we didn’t visit it. When having no fear for steep small roads and driving a good car (4x4 recommended) go there to get a different view on Jordan. Enjoy 😊

We had an excellent time on this hike. It was a very unique experience walking in the water through the canyons. Definitely recommend it as a day trip.

Scary road to a magical place
Mar 2019 • Friends
The way down to the wadi was one of my scariest experiences ever. We went by an old van overfilled with people. The road is very narrow, runs in great hights and has no fence. There were even eroded parts what made it more scary. However the walk down in the canyon was so beautiful it made me forget the ride.

this trail is not as hard as Wadi Mujib Natrual Reserve Siq Trail, but similar idea, walk in the creek same way in same way out, water level is lower than knee level. 5JD per person, jordan pass not covered.

Great short hike - in warm river water
Oct 2018 • Friends
We were obviously lucky, unlike a couple of other reviewers who had bad experiences - we thought this was a brilliant 3-4 hour hike in a stunning setting. We went with a local guide as part of a 10-day hiking holiday and all had a great time. A fine drive down on a steep and narrow but tarmac’d road with dramatic rocky landscapes on both sides - in a 20-seater coach too, so should be fine in most small vehicles. The toilet block at the start of the hike is a bit cobwebby but the toilets work. And then the hike itself is great - downriver first, in warm water never above knee height, with increasingly high walls on both sides and luxuriant vegetation with occasional small waterfalls, and then after 1km or so the walls virtually meet overhead in places as they draw closer. The waterfall definitely needs the metal ladder to help negotiate it, and we carried on for another half an hour before stopping to have lunch in a partly sunny spot at the side of the river. The journey back up is straightforward - a little more tiring of course as we were now going upstream, but essentially a fairly easy but striking hike. Definitely one to do and worth the detour and the small charge per head.

We hired a tour company to take us around to different sites. Our tour guide paid the entrance fee at the front and we went in for the hike while he waited in the parking lot. About half way into the hike, there were two guys harassing us for money which we did not have with us. Honestly really frightened me, given it was just my friend and I. On the way back up, he followed up to the car. Incredibly shady and completely ruined the hike for me. The guy who we initially paid for the tickets at the front claimed that we were also supposed to pay him. Anyways, there are a lot of beautiful places here that are managed better and not shady. Would leave this one out of your itinerary.

Beautiful canyon with palmtrees

The canyon is really nice and we had the site for ourselves. Be prepared for a partly tough drive to the canyon but with nice views on bedouin life and the canyon. With a regular car you will be fine and it will take about 30min off the king's highway. The road to Wadi bin Hamad is small and partly steep, but you will not share it with many cars (we saw in total 3 cars) which makes it easier. There are no signs, except the sign of a tourist camp (if you see it you are on the right road but don't go offroad by the second sign). Just type Wadi bin Hamad in Google and you will get directions. There is only one crossing, but it will help you follow the road. When you enter the place you will be asked to pay 5JOD per person. If you wish to go further than the waterfall someone can guide you with ropes, we did enjoy the 1km trek to the waterfall (it really is not much further than 1km!). In total it took us in total 2-2,5 hours including pictures and drinking along the way. Water will only be as high as your knees and is warm. You can take your camera if you don't slip, we had our own drybag. The canyon is for a large part shaded. The view in the canyon is really nice and we enjoyed it really much. Expect to see palm trees, some flowers and nice rocks. You are near the waterfall when you see the "Elephant" rocks. After that its only 100m where you can turn back or continue if you have ropes or a guide with ropes... we were on hiking sandals that was good enough; use shoes that have profile. It is an easy stroll through and along the river till the waterfall, so you can really enjoy the canyon and don't have to look at your step all the time. A guide is not needed if you do only the part till the waterfall.
