the bay is nice but completely ruined by literally hundreds of enormous RVs from Northern Europe. Doubtless all parked up for free contributing zilch positive to the economy and creating a great eyesore. Avoid

Had a lovely walk along to here when recently staying in Aguilas. It is a wonderful small cove with crystal clear waters.

At 4km there and back this is a brilliant walk for anyone who can walk. The path is rock/stones but easy and is well signed. The 4 bays are stunning, the wild flowers which cling to the ground are beautiful and we saw a red tailed lizzard and yellow butterfly. The sea is crystal clear and turquoise/blue. There is a drinks bar and cafe at Playa Carolina. You can park at either end of the walk. We headed towards Aguilas on the road from Lorca turning right at roundabout as you enter Aguilas. Follow 'Calarreona' until you see a sign for playa Calarreona- it is opposite a narrow access on left to a beach parking area.
We visited in May and very fee people around but can see that in summer it will be busy. You can also see some cave houses.
I am not keen on lager and its gasiness but I found a lovely brew here: El Aguila:

Nice walk, and the place is full with people enjoying the views ant the place itself. There are also a lot of caravans that looked like they were staying in place for a few days or weeks

There is a lovely walk to be done, ‘Senderos De Cuatro Callas’ which is well signposted and really scenic, if you don’t fancy the walk or have parasols, beach chairs to carry then park in one of the free car parks by the beach. We prefer Playa Los Carolinas, there are a couple of nice restaurants/bars by the beach and the scenery is beautiful

A cove with sand which at one end has rocks separating an area which isn't too deep and avoids the waves so it safe for children.
There are 2 restaurants bordering the beach and parking is close and free, though the access road is a little bumpy and rustic.
There is no shade here and there is an alternative beach 180 degrees behind so you can usually find shelter from the wind on one beach or the other. THis second beach often has good surfing waves.
There are 2 chemical loos, though we weren't clear if these were for the restaurant.
There is a signposted walk from the beach car park, which you can find detailed on the Aguilas tourist info site.
We were here in April outside of Spanish holidays during mid week and were surprised how many people there were on the beach. So personally we'd avoid it in peak season.

On our last full day of our holiday in September we discovered this wonderful beach that looks like the seaside on Tatooine. We call it the Starwars beach but it's real name is Playa de los Cocedores. It is a fascinating beach. If you have ever wanted to swim in a volcano this is the place to do it as the little bay is a collapsed extinct volcano. The snorkeling is great there The border of Almeria and Murcia runs through this bay. There are two Churringitos and the car park is between two beaches. It is the last beach on Senderos Ruta Cuarto Calas de Aguilas (The four coves of Aguilas walk) There are information boards in English in the car park. If you are lucky you can spot sea daffodils growing there, Alpine Swifts,Rock Doves, Kestrels and Peregrine Falcons can be spotted on the cliffs. The rock pools were used in the past to soak Esparto grass to soften the fibres. It was then dried out in the caves before being used to make things like baskets, mats, espadrilles (a type of shoe)

One of my favourite beaches. The water was really clear and there were lots of fish swimming around. There are a couple of beach bars serving food and drinks. Limited facilities for elderly or disabled visitors but the gently sloping sandy cove is great for kids. A beautiful beach with free parking but try and avoid August when it gets very busy.
