About

Rainy Day visit to Knife Musuem
Nov 2018 • Family
We weren’t sure what to expect at the “Knife Musuem,” as we’ve only heard about it. We took our 3 kids (5 and younger) with us and we enjoyed the trip. There is a clear wall with knives and other tools stuck in them (probably 50 or more) and you can grab the handles and feel the differences between the designs. We liked watched the small demonstration box which showed us the machines in action on a small scale. There is a movie in Italian which tells of the museums history and a few other areas which describe the knives machinery.

Great surprise

Just happened to drop by while visiting town and was greatly surprised. The outside and entry were a little cold, but once inside the museum the staff and displays were truly fantastic. I have worked on a museum project before and the displays really made the history and technology come to life. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Will be back.

Really interesting

The local river made this industry possible by powering the knife making. Hard to believe how many specialty knives, scythes, scissors etc for hunting, defense, harvest, grape tending, sewing, you name it!! Some info in England sh was helpful.

Maniago was the Italian capital for knives manufacturing for the past couple hundreds year and the museum displays original equipment and tools from the years past. Exhibits are very well presented and the knifes collection most impressive!

Lots to see and learn

An interesting look at knife making in this region over the years. We don't put much thought into it when we use a knife, but you will appreciate the fine details after visiting the museum.

Who knew knives could be so interesting?!

This is a wonderful museum! It takes knife making from a cottage industry to modern times. Then, shortly after I returned home, I hear that the knife makers won a prestigious award in San Franciso, CA. They are still going strong!
