We ended up being the only 2 people in the class, so it was indeed a private class. Lyn is excellent, she is a great instructor, has a great sense of humor and enriched our experience. This is the first time in the many courses that we have taken over the years where the market tour included the instructor purchasing some of the actual foods that we were going to be cooking - including the chicken, pork and some vegetables. The class is held outside of the city -- about 20-30 minutes away from the old town (depending on traffic). The space is large and comfortable and clean. We prepared a variety of dishes, and were even sent home with leftovers!!! Lanna cooking is different from Thai cooking. Another wonderful experience in this Land of Smiles.

The trip to the market was fascinating. The owner is so knowledgeable about Thai and Lanna history. We got to pick out the dishes we wanted to cook before the day of our class. We were not hurried and had plenty of time to enjoy food the food we cooked around the table together.

I had an amazing day with Lin learning how to cook Lanna food! I chose 3 Lanna dishes in addition to my choice of a Thai dessert. Lin picked me up and took me to a local market to buy ingredients. She passionately showed me around the market and told me about the many different things and ingredients. Then we drove to the cooking school where Lin showed me around her lovely organic garden where many of our ingredients for the dishes we were cooking could be found. Lin takes prided in making you feel like you're a friend who comes over to cook a meal together and I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I was so intrigued by the different methods of cooking (we cooked everything in claypots over fire!) and sat down in the garden and ate together. I asked a lot of questions and Lin made sure to explain everything to me - she even gave me some fresh kaffir lime leaves from the garden to take home! I would reccommend everyone to take a Lanna cooking class - I had a great time, food was SO delicious and Lin was the best company

I would give it 6 out of 5! We had a fabulous day with Lin. She picked us up from our hotel to the morning market to shop for the ingredients for the dishes we chose to cook. As we walked through the market, Lin patiently explained the produce including the traditional ones-fermented tea leaves, fermented and sun dried bean paste, mushrooms…She then drove us to her organic farm where the cooking school was, fired up coal stoves, we learnt to make spicy pork sausages from scratch, leant how to use the banana leaves as wrapper properly. We chose 4 dishes to cook with the intention to cook these when we get home. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking and learning from Lin, her lanna cooking class is a must!

I took one of the new online cooking classes that Lin and her team are teaching because of COVID, and it was great. We made a banana flower salad and sticky rice (I cook a lot, but the salad was completely new to me, and I've never actually made sticky rice before.). Both were delicious. Instructions were easy to follow, and Lin was very good about going first, showing how it was supposed to look (excellent use of multiple cameras), and checking in on how my dishes were going. I will definitely be making these dishes again. Also some interesting insight into the local Lanna culture. Highly recommended!

Lin and her team were professional, friendly, well prepared and provided me the opportunity to learn Lanna cooking from scratch. I was in Chiang Mai two years ago and took a generic cooking class when I first arrived, before I got to taste the unique Lanna cuisine. That class was half show and half cooking class. This was different.
When I arrived in Chiang Mai this time, I was determined to learn some of the dishes I loved on my previous visit. I googled CM cooking class with kkao soi, gaeng hung lay and soi oua. Only Lin’s school came up, I was set.
Lin picked me up in the morning and we went to market to pick up supplies and taste a few things. In the car, Lin told me she was bossy and wanted me to get to do every part of the cooking.......yes chef, I am ready!
Arriving at her property out of town a bit, we walked through her lovely garden where I could see, smell and touch all the ingredients that at home look so flat and listless in the
Lao grocery store I shop to hope to find what I need. I knew the dishes were going to bring a party to my mouth, popping with flavor. The open air cooking area was large, comfortable, well equipped and ready to be fired up.
Lin explained what we needed to do for each dish, laid out the ingredients and guided and helped me proceed with chopping, slicing and pounding in the mortar with pestle.
She answered questions, gave me technique corrections and pushed me and joked around as we kept busy. Her staff was buzzing around making sure that all was moving smoothly and helping me along. I was involved in every part of the process, working hard ( or at least I thought so), and as fast as I could, although I am sure they might differ on that.
In the end, we got it all done from start to finish and I think it was delicious, and so my wife told me when I brought her dinner back to the condo.
This was a great experience with Lin and her team who provided a warm, family like setting for me to share the love of their food and be able to bring it home with me for my family to share. Many thanks to Lin and her team.
If you are serious about wanting to learn to cook Lanna cuisine....TAKE THIS CLASS!

This cooking class was far better than the generic one I took the day before. Lin and her team were incredible from the start till the end. The majority of the produce came from the garden that Lin has on site and the entire set up is really lovely. This was the only cooking class that made sai oua (Chiang Mai sausage), where we stuffed the seasoned sausage mix into intestine casing and grilled it over charcoal. We chose Lanna cuisine instead of more typical Thai food (pad thai, tom kha, etc ...) and cooked everything over charcoal. The khao soi was better than what I've had around Chiang Mai and was a great start to the cooking experience.
I was prepared to pay for two people as a solo traveler, but luckily found a small group to join me. But I would not have regretted it if it was just me with Lin and her team. This was the best cooking class I've taken and one of the most memorable experiences while traveling. Book soon because they get booked up pretty quickly.

This cooking class was one of many my girlfriend and I took during our time in Thailand, though it can be easily said that this was one of our favorites! You do every step by hand so you really learn how to make the dishes. Not to mention this class is the only one in Chiang Mai that does lanna recipes. So if you are looking to cook traditional recipes in a relaxing atmosphere this is the spot your looking for. The book she gives you at the end of the class is the best cook book we got out of all the classes we took. Lin is very sweet and knowledgeable. She even got us durian to try, as we had never tried it! The next time we are in Chiang Mai its a guarantee we will stop by again and take another class! And Lin if you read this thanks again for everything, honestly your cook book is the best!! -Your friend Shawn 😁

We had an amazing time with Lin and Auntie Joy yesterday for our private Lanna Cooking Class. We brought our 3-year old daughter with us and they went above and beyond to make sure she was happy and having fun. They set out a little mat for her to play on while we were working hard on our three different curry pastes. I am so happy we booked this class and I can't wait to go home and share these recipes with my family and friends.

Lin the instructor of Love Chiang Mai Cooking School is an outstanding individual. She picked us up at our Hotel and took us shopping at a local market. She explained the ingredients and answered any questions we had.
We then headed to her home in the country and this is truly a little bit of paradise. Everything is so well organized and coordinated. She has her own organic garden and explains each herb, vegetable, fruit etc. She has a helper that sets up everything for each portion of the menu.
Lin has a great understanding of Lanna food in addition to Thai. Lanna is much healthier as they use steaming, cooking in clay pots and grilling techniques. She is from the highest mount in Thailand and understands this style of food very well.
She explains the cooking and preparation of the meals very well and is very patient in providing any guidance as needed. We have not tasted food as tasty as what we prepared with her. We cooked the appetizer and soup first then stop to eat. Then the main course (2 selection) and one desert.
In addition to being an amazing teacher she has a good understanding of the culture and life of present day Thailand.
It truly was a privilege to be in her company.
