If you are curious about how people used to live in Scicli you must visit this little museum in an ancient cave house. It brings the past alive in a way a large museum cannot.

We found this little museum on TA and walked up one morning. It’s very like the museum caves in Matera and apparently people also lived in the caves here until after the last war. We had to wait a few minutes for the previous visitors...More

We went to the cave museum and met a very nice man, Carmelo. It was a charming place to see. A lot of fun for a cheap price.

Don't miss this. It is a bit out of the way, and as yet not suitable for people with mobility problems. Ron Carmelu has created a fascinating experience of life in the caves of Scicli
