It was a world class visit to see different collections in this wonderful private museum, which offers even a peek to the storage of its fine fine arts! The building itself is worth seeing as the architecture is really one of its class!

I loved it. The museum is only open from May to october. So you need to hurry :) The collection of contemporary art and especially the African art is stunning. The architecture breathtaking and the restaurant very good. You can spend a whole day there. Sometimes there are even concerts Attention. Kids are only allowed from the age of 12. And the museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! Enjoy!!!

Do not be deterred by the hefty 14 EUR entrance fee - it is worth every cent! The collection is as huge as it is original and refreshing - lesser known works by well known artists, both national and international. I loved the architecture in general, with the amazing views from the floor-to-ceiling windows and hallways in particular. The sculpture garden is well maintained and seems to be intended for expansion. I came badly prepared and only expected to see contemporary art, so the current special exhibition about African glass beads was a bonus and the exhibits were well curated and simply stunning. We did not test the café/restaurant, but it looked pretty inviting, with an Italian barista machine making comforting espresso noises that carried over to the main exhibition space. This museum is a gem worth making the trip/detour to Neuhaus! Will be back.

well worth the journey, pretty countryside, quiet corner of Austria and all of a sudden, modern&contemporary art in a breathtaking surrounding, fine piece of architecture.

Museum Liaunig is a total surprise. It is a large modern concrete structure, currently being expanded to almost double the size, that houses one of the most remarkable modern art collections in central Europe. The artworks, which include most forms of modern art including painting and sculpture, are part of the collection of the owner. The structure is itself very avant-garde. Included in the collection are a large group of artifacts from West Africa which are highly unusual. If you like modern art, this museum should be on your itinerary.
