Beautiful one-of-a-kind place, so much love put into it. Very kind owner, Bärbel was so welcoming and helpful. Good energy all around. Beautiful walks, animals, fruit trees and very clean facilities, hot shower and kitchen. Highly recommend!

I found Hack N’Stay while looking for accomodation in Takaka, and was thrilled to find somewhere with horses & animals! The place is absolutely magic with a direct route to the beach, a lovely guesthouse and friendly people. Thank you Baerbel for introducing me to natural horsemanship and helping me to literally ‘get back on the horse’ after such a long break. I loved my stay and will see you next time I’m in Takaka.

Horse Riding at Hack and Stay was a great way to finish off our holiday.  We were very well looked after and had heaps of fun.  We came away with great memories and an experience that we will talk about for some time to come.  We also felt a sense of achievement and that we had learned about horses and how to work with them.  Highly recommended.

Lots of fun, and while I'm not horse inclined, was a great place to take my Partner who is. Staff, particually the guide was great and I learnt a lot about horse riding (I'd never been prior). Our guide (Elle) was great at giving advice as to both of us, myself as a absolute beginner in particular. Briefing and prep probably took twenty mintues in case you were expecting to saddle up like Clint Eastwood. The beach itself was as lovely as the picture indicate. I supect if it had been raining the beach access would have been difficult for horses with beginner riders - something to consider should the weather look iffy (best contact the Staff)

My 9 year old daughter had the 2 1/2 hour beach riding lesson and loved every minute of it, so much so I booked her another lesson! Bärbel and Kris were fantastic instructors and gave my daughter confidence she didn't previously have. We will definitely be back and highly recommend Hack 'n Stay, particularly their method of teacher with the horses comfort as the focus.
