Most people visiting Navia probably have a car but I did not. Even with a car, you need a strategy of how far you are going to walk before turning back or if you want to find transit which seems a bit scarce. L
The entire walk from Navia to Barayo beach is about 20 kilometers (12.6 miles). A lot of people just walk to Frejulfe beach which is 7.5 km. and then walk back. I elected to start in Puerto de Vega and walk back to Navia so that I could include another highlight besides Frejulfe.
I took a 9AM Alsa bus from Navia’s bus station and got off at Villapedre. Then walked to Puerto de Vega on backroads about 3 km. Much easier than doing the 24 km out and back on the trail. You could also do a taxi from Navia. There are restaurants in Puerto de Vega if you need to eat before starting out.
The path is well marked and stays along the coast for the most part. Great views and Frejulfe is definitely not to be missed. You definitely should do a portion of this trail if you’re up for a little up and down hiking!
