Very nice square in Altamura, called in Italian "Piazza" (it apparently means square), it's a beautiful place to spend a bit of time walking with friends. There is also some bar and other place to spend time in company

Very nice square in Altamura, called in Italian "Piazza" (it apparently means square), it's a beautiful place to spend a bit of time walking with friends. There is also some bar and other place to spend time in company

Altamura is a charming medieval walled town, not well known outside Italy, or even outside Puglia. Didn't see any other British tourists there, and almost all were Italian. But they are far outnumbered by the locals, who have a passagiata every evening through this Piazza....More

This town seemed to be full of locals which made a nice change,and got you to feel the way the Italians here get on with their day.Surprised to see that even cafes close here for lunch!

Good 30-45 minutes stop on your way to Matera. Very pleasant piazza to have some coffee and drink in the atmosphere
