About
Between mountains and sea, sun and Wind become one... The "Grande Cave" of terres des Templiers is astonishing. Everywhere here you feel the kinf of magic carefully preserved by nature and men in balance between ligth and shadow. After watching the movie "The legend of the great banyuls" your guide will tell you the story of this unconventional vineyard, from the vinification to the aging methods used by our winegrowers. Walk along the centuries old casks, charmed by the atmosphere and the smells. Finally, stroll along the red barrels aged in the open and feel the sensations of the banyuls either crushed by the summer sun or bitten by the winer winds

Really informative tour!
Feb 2020
We were treated to a pesonalised tour around the Terres des Templiers which was engaging and interesting throughout. Our tour guide was extremely knowledgable about the banyuls and wine making process and at the end of the tour suggested which banyuls we would like to try. The quality of the banyuls was fantastic and I would recommend anyone go and taste what they have to offer

An interesting Trip
Oct 2019
It is not difficult to find "Terres des Templiers" provided you carefully follow the signs from the seafront in Bayuls. The drive takes you away from the esplanade and there is plenty of onsite parking.

It took about 10 to 15 minutes for them to arrange our €5.00 p.p. English Language tour which started with an interesting short film. The tour around the winery was informative and our guide took his time and was happy to answer questions.

At the end there is a comprehensive tasting with a chance to buy a bottle or two before you leave.

If I have a tip it would be to research the price of Banyul in local supermarkets beforehand, as some bottles on offer were quite expensive. Though I suspect better quality / vintage. Buy a bottle or two locally before you visit and do your homework a day or two in advance.

If I can make a suggestion to the owners. Why not have a seated area outside where you can purchase a bottle and continue the sampling.

Finally....be kind to your "Car Driver". French Drink Drive regulations are strict and it is tough visiting a winery by car and having to abstain.

Wine to die for!
May 2019 • Couples
We toured the fabulous Terres des Templiers winery with our engaging English speaklng guide, Michel, a retired French Army officer. We saw huge wine barrells made of white oak, almost 200 years old, each with its own history of wine aging over time. The aroma in this vast cellar was a wine lover's dream. There are three levels of wine being aged for different numbers of years, all depending on the quality of the grapes of that season's vintage: Traditional, Grand Cru and President Vidal, each one more rich and smooth than the last. Michel was very personable, engaging and answered all our questions regarding this wine growers cooperative, which is blessed with both vines and barrels going back generations. This coup de grace was Michel treating us to tastings of 5 different types of wine made at the Domaine. These wines compare favorably with the best Ports and Sherrys we have had, and pair well with produits terroir like Roquefort cheese, as well as the best chocolates. We recommend this tour highly to everyone, whether a wine lover or not.

Bought a box at Cap Cerberes
Sep 2018 • Couples
The corniche road that runs from Collioure to the Spanish Border is one of the great roads of France, in my mind surpassing the Corniches of the Cote D'Azur. The real bonus is that when you stop in the car park at Cap Cerbere (just inside the French border) is a shed-Cave where you can buy one of the areas finest wines - Banyuls Traditionelle is my choice - like thick sticky sherry but better, The gentleman that served us today was a real delight who let us taste what we wanted. A superb wine.

We had a very friendly guide was happy to answer all of our questions. Good information about the wines and parings. We were are group of 3 and tasted 6/7 wines each.
It's just a few minutes away from the sea as well, so you can include this as part of your day out at the sea side.

Friendly & Informative
Jun 2018 • Family
Our family - children included - enjoyed the informative tour. Our guide answered questions patiently and with a sense of humor (in English). He made it enjoyable for our children, aged 12 and 10, as well. There was a place for the kids to play while the adults did the wine tasting. Overall, a very enjoyable tour.

very disappointing.
May 2018 • Couples
we went here after being recommended by our campsite. When we arrived we made our way to reception where we waited for the receptionist to finish here conversation on her mobile. It was obviously important as se had very little time for us. we asked about a tour on english and were told no. We asked if we could look around and again the answer was no. we could of course sample the wine and buy some. we went to see how wine was made and bottled not to buy wine although no doubt we would have bought some after the tour.
total time 10 minutes 5 minutes waiting for the receptionist to get off her phone an 5 minutes to be told nothing available and walk back to the car.
If you want to try the wine and buy a few bottles this would be the place to go.
if you want a tour on english to quote the receptionist "no".
I hope your experience is better

A very modern elegant facility with tours in English available.
A variety of wines produced from local Argeles-Banyuls grapes - all were good, hard to choose, but we did take two bottles home on the plane because they are not exported to the USA (which is a shame). They packed them well for the trip.

Thank you for sharing your impressions following your visit. We offer visits in foreign languages every day in high season and according to the availability of guides. The US regulations unfortunately do not allow us to ship our great wines in favorable conditions but we hope to find solutions soon. We wish you a very good tasting at home.

Vin doux - or not ?
Sep 2017 • Solo
In truth I feel that although the wines represent reasonable value for the very difficult terrain they are grown in , they are 100% over-priced in the market for their quality. I bought two bottles @ € 10 out of politeness for my tour, but their quality, in my opinion is only € 3- 4 if you are buying outside

We thank you for taking the time to post your comment that caught our attention. Our wines of Collioure and Banyuls, the most awarded at home, are a reflection of the work of our 650 winemakers who cultivate vines in extreme conditions. The price of our wines is in the average of all the cellars of the vintage and we are sincerely sorry that you did not appreciate our Great Wines Wines but all the amateurs know that it is impossible to find wines of AOP around 4 €! We are happy to have made you discover them.
