We drove to Lucera on our tour of southern Italy. We love history and were looking forward to visiting this site. Unfortunately it was locked up; luckily we were also visiting the castle which was quite impressive, just for its size.

We walked down to this site only to find the area fenced off. There were many locals just hanging about watching us and we felt unsafe and uncomfortable. We about turned and walked quickly back to the main road.
It's a simple Amphitheater but it's nice to actually see how a real one really looks like and to know that some time ago there were games and fights in there! Very cheap entry (2\3 euros) so why not taking a look ;)
