The light installations by Olafur Eliasson were both mesmerizing and relaxing in the blacked out exhibition hall. From Turin catch Ligne 1 Metro from Porto Nuova to Paradiso where you catch bus 36 to Rivoli. €1.20 single. We caught separate free shuttle bus up to the Castillo. (Taxi is €35 single trip. )Great views of the mountains and Turino especially from the top floor. Cafe served good coffee. Rest of exhibition varied in style, but Eliasson was the best of contemporary installations. Really worth a visit if temporary exhibition is this special.

Amazing property located in an old village in the periphery of Torino. Beautifully restored and transformed into a museum of contemporary art smartly run by Caroleen Christoff-Bakardjiev (curator of documenta, etc.). Great artworks specially created for the ancient rooms. Very good exhibitions.

This is our second visit to Rivoli and our impression from first visit was confirmed.
This location is as well hidden as Louisiana Art Museum north of Copenhagen. The setting is unbelievable and the art is nicely blended with the setting. The buildings are out of this world and so nicely refurbished in synchronisation with the history and the new view of the world.
The curators are doing a very successful job and when there you are inspired on all senses. Which I lived in Turin!

The castle has a fascinating history and is on a huge scale which helps to explain why it was never finished.
I am not a huge fan of modern or contemporary art, but the artists must be thrilled to be given such large and inspiring spaces to display their work - some of which I just did not understand to be honest.

Today I visit for the first time the Rivoli museum contemporary art, it was amazing!
A lot of artist in particular Maurizio Cattelan, Hito Steyerl, Anri Sala, and two great opera of Andy Warhol.
It was a pleasure to have Miss Alice has a guide, she is very professional and so cute.

I have been to Castello di Rivoli many times since I was a child, and I always love to go back whenever I am with someone who has never been. The building is beautiful and has a lot of history. The art is secondary to me, although I always love seeing the horse hanging from the ceiling and Charlie. From the piazzale you also get great views of Rivoli all the way to Torino.

I really like this museum, but in many ways it is the museum itself more than the art that is the draw. The art pieces are very contemporary set in a refurbished many hundred year old castle. It isn't that big, only needs a few hours, but worth a visit.

We felt cheated! Horrible art. We came in mid-July only to find both the cafeteria and restaurant closed without notice. Nothing was open nearby on a Sunday--we had to drive a half-hour to find Rivoli (where the only option was fast food), then come back. Waste of time. The exhibit of Georgio di Chirico paintings, advertised all over the city, consisted of a handful of works poorly displayed. The permanent exhibits are laughable. Ventilation is poor. This museum's point of pride is a room containing a dead horse, life-sized, stuffed and hanging from the ceiling. It is disgusting. "This is great art, and we paid a lot for it," they told us seriously. If taxidermied dead horses are your idea of good art, then maybe you will like it. We did not.

If you are in Turin for any reason, don't miss the RIVOLI Castle!! Simply the best panoramic view of Turin and the Alps, from there you understand the alignment Rivoli Castle - Corso Francia - Basilica di Superga, AND you have a building where for a stroke of luck (or the running out of money of the Architect Juvarra) TIME STOPPED, so you see the planning map on the marble floor, the structural brickwork in some parts, and the beautiful frecoes in other parts!! Always site for a Permanent Art Collection, but the genius of the Director, Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev, will offer always new surprises!!

My husband and I took public transport (subway, then bus, then climb from town to museum--there was probably another bus up but we didn't find it) on the way, but took the shuttle back. The colorful shuttle bus takes you right to the front of the museum from central Turin for only 3 Euros round trip on weekends.
The museum is a fun wander, not too big.

Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev Direttore".
Per eventuali contatti potete fare riferimento a me.
