I was fortunate to be selected to do Waka Ama from the Pukaki High Dam towards Aoraki, the Lake itself is just beautiful, peaceful and a true wonder of New Zealand, visiting here and Aoraki are a must if in the region.

The Lake itself is absolutely stunning. The bluest water I’ve ever come across with a backdrop of the classic NZ mountains we’ve all come to love on the trip. Make sure to have a brisk walk around the lake over the bridge to see the...More

This lake is with excellent mountain views and very big. The water is very clean and we can drink just there. Surrounding mountain view is great. This is also a very big lake like Tekapo.

Visited on Friday 27th April on our way from Lake Tekapo to Omarama. We thought Lake Tekapo was magnificent until we saw Lake Pukaki. You get to see more of this Lake and it's quieter without all the tourists being there blocking your view.

Pukaki is simply spellbinding. The blue emerald water is magical. I biked along this lake and also camped at the DOC free campsite. There are toilets and camping areas plenty. The views are too good to be true. The sunset rays on Mt Cook was...More

This is the best lake, I have seen in my entire life. So pure and so much turquoise. Absolutely recommended stop for anyone traveling via this route.

We stopped here on the way to Mount Cook village. This is one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen; the colour of the water changed according to the amount of sun shining on it. I have never witnessed so many colours of...More
