We got there in the morning before lunch time. Really nice and pure Umbria atmosphere. If you are in the aria you should absolutely visit.

One of the most beautiful walled medieval hill towns in Italy, it is quite small, well preserved and well conserved. It has a charming little museum, too. From many places in the town you can enjoy fabulous views of the countryside below and imagine yourself...More

We had a wonderful morning ambling around Montone. Very quiet and well kept hill town. Well worth a visit if you are staying / visiting Umbertide. The houses are beautiful and the little streets exquisite. Lovely square to have a coffee or beer! Highly recommend...More

Erba luna is amazing. The food was top notch with lovely seasonal specials and the best lamb in the area. Can’t believe we don’t go there more often. Our friends were also suitably impressed. Great service and s lovely location.

I am Italian and I know quite well these regions. Montone is wonderful. The right dimension, the right people. You breath the air of centuries ago. Medieval architecture spread all over. No cars, no mess. Just peace.

Locals took us to Montone for a mid summer lunch. No tourists to be seen. The township was decorated in buntings and flags for a forthcoming festa. Very beautiful, and plenty of good restaurants.

Based on a suggestion from our hotelier, we drove out here from near Gubbio one hot weekday. Italian hill towns all have their charms, and this one is no exception. Visitors are greeted by narrow, winding streets fronted by tidy houses all with colourful flowers,...More

If you have good nerves and a small car you can drive down the narrow street called Roma right into the Center plaza. Parking is outside the wall and the center is definitely worth a visit!
