The Palazzo Nicolaci is a baroque palace built in the 1700's with gorgeous, curved, wrought-iron balconies with carved lions, sphinxes, hippogriffs, winged horses, angels and sirens underneath. The interior features frescoed ceilings. It belonged to the Nicolachi family who acquired their fortune from the tuna industry. It's been renovated since having been taken over by Noto. It's an interesting look inside the life of a wealthy Sicilian family.

Very interesting and beautiful palace. Very friendly personnel telling the history.
Beautiful baroque piano music from the palace could be enjoyed in the whole Noto.

This tired building left us wondering what the fuss was all about, except for the wonderfully carved balconies which were amazing.

We went because we had a ticket that included three different venues, and we were told it was a wonderful building.

The palace has a number of reasonably decorated rooms, headlined by the beautiful Ball Room. Easily worth €4/pp and 20 minutes of time. Look at the balconies when outside - the supports are varied and amazing. And make sure to step outside onto the balconies when visiting.

We were in Noto with our daughter joining us from London, so we knew that whatever building we chose to visit would have a hard time facing the unfair comparison with Buckingham Palace or similar regal dwellings... With that in mind, Palazzo Nicolaci showed its personality, effectively delivering the feeling of what aristocratic life in provincial Sicily could be like from the late 1700s. We particularly enjoyed the display of different tiles in the various rooms, giving each its own character; also, the balconies on the various sides afforded nice panoramic views of the town centre. COVID precautions were fully in place, so we did enjoy the visit in full. Ticket price was €4 per person, for the part of the Palazzo that is open for visiting.

Very beautiful palace, open to the public. If you happen to be there before the opening time, you can still go inside, and have a visit in the courtyard.

Following the very good reviews here, I was expecting more, much more.
But perhaps because of these expectations was I disappointed.
So if you go there limit them and you'll enjoy the tour.
The entrance fees are not expensive at all so nothing really to risk, unless your time is limited and then I would recommend better to start with the Cathedral and after a walk on the main street have a cake or a granita at Caffe Sicilia, which is a must in Notto.
And if you have some time left, then visit this Palace.

A fascinating tour of this large suite of rooms was made especially interesting by our knowledgeable guide. Well worth the visit to see how some folk lived in previous times

This old palazzo in the centre of the town on Via Nicolaci was built for the Nicolaci family in the 18th century. The facade has some amazing carved balconies supported by mythological creatures such as mermaids, griffons and lions. There is a large courtyard that you can wander into and look at the exterior even if you don't want to go around. There are tours available but you can also just wander around whenever it suits you and most people seemed to be doing this. You access the palazzo up a sweeping neoclassical staircase of marble and the first room is the Tea Room which is very oriental. The most impressive room is the Salon delle Feste - the amazing trompe l'oeil decorations are just incredible. there are lovely views from this room as well of the town and the nearby cathedral. It's not expensive to go round - 3 or 4 euros so well worth it.

The exterior is an amazing example of Baroque architecture at the balconies. We were in Noto several days and had time on our hands and toured the interior too, not bad.
