This town is worth a visit in summer. A wonderful walk around the old town and the blautopf. Once winter sets in, most restaurants are closed. The monastery and other attractions are also closed until March.

Although it was a bit of a dull day our visit here was well worth the walk. The blue colour of the water was quite spectacular. Also of interest was the working water wheel. The cafe by the side served a variety of cakes and...More

River runs out of limestone mountain, walking trails, nice cafe for drink or light lunch. Can get jammed on weekends and parking is limited. Beautiful water and setting!

My girlfriend, Ingeborg lives nearby and was anxious to show me this mysterious natural lagoon. The folklore surrounding this lagoon harkens back hundreds of years. Nearby, one of the little shops show a film about how it was developed and is maintained. There are numerous...More

A small but fascinating output of the natural aquifer. The surrounding area filters the rain water through the hills and out of the Blautopf. A small quaint village surrounding the "pond" with beautiful buildings and the imposing monastery. Small groups of persons walk around the...More
