Piazza Pio II is a lovely journey back in time... but with crazy crowds. The Duomo untouched by ages, stately Palazzo Piccolomini, flowerbeds with bright spring flowers, and heart stopping panorama behind the Duomo in all its glory on a bright sunny day are so...More

If you watch the series Medici, you'll recognize this piazza as it plays center stage on the show. This is the heart of the town of Pienza with some great views of architecture and views of the Tuscan hillside (just behind the Pienza Cathedral).

Loved this town - and the piazza. Got some great shots with the cathedral and surrounding countryside. Even some lovely little shops.

I'm a bit piazzaed out after 7weeks in Italy. It is pretty, but small. This was part of the big plan of planned community by Pope Pius II

This is the perfect example of a charming little villiage. It is pleasing to the eye and feels authentic. It is also not very crowded which makes it more than unique.

Very nice (and small) historical center with few tourists as it is quite hard to get there. Great views on Toscannian valley.

We visited The Cathedral of the Asumption of the Blessed Mary a focal point of the plaza. Pienze is a beautiful unspoiled Unesco Heritage site and is well worth a visit. It has breathtaking views, small shops and several lovely old restaurants.

A beautiful little square in a picturesque little village. Enjoyed sampling cheese, drinking coffee and just soaking it all in.
